Default Wiper assembly question

Sorry if this topic covered elsewhere, but am I only one upset that the NX wiper blade isn’t replaceable as an entire piece from local auto parts store? Why just the NX model where all the other Lexus line up of cars seems like there’s a replacement?
The plastic end piece on tip of driver side wiper blade somehow got lost and now have metal exposed. To replace entire assembly is my only option and as you know, it ain’t cheap.
Has anyone retrofitted a third party wiper blade (including holder and rubber) to existing wiper arms by any chance?
Is this even possible?

Which brand sells wiper end cap at the dealer? You can go with aftermarket wipers, if you get the good quality aftermarket wipers, it will be 10 to 20% cheaper and should fit fine. You can probably save more if you opt for the low quality wipers but you will scarifies on performance and longevity.

I can find aftermarket wiper rubber refills but there are no complete wiper assemblies that you can buy at parts store that attach directly to the NX200T proprietary arms....which is what I was intending to do cuz of missing wiper end caps.
Am I wrong?

I thought they go by length, driver and passenger side?

I checked the Costco's Michelin Fitment Guide, it is weird that they have wiper blades for UX 2019, but NXs are not listed. However, Toy RAV4 with the same lenghts, 26" D and 16" D are available. If they can be safely attached to the NX wiper arms, then it is not a problem.

Amazon.com specifies NX 2014-2019 for $13.94 a set 26" 16" + $5.38 shipping, if they work, they are "quite" expensive

I don't remember exactly what I replaced mine with but I bought them at Wallmart and had no issues with "proprietary arm".

Ok that’s good to know
i was just at Lexus this afternoon and they were going to charge me $50 Cdn for wiper assembly. Ouch!
Yes it’s odd the major brands don’t list front wiper replacement for the NX....just the rear
Even Amazon search doesn’t come up with many hits...just some off shore Asian ones that’ll take too long to arrive.
Here’s pic of what part is missing. If I had the part, it’s be easy just to get the rubber refill and be done.

It took me awhile to believe there are no OEM replacement for NX wiper blades. In your case you're stuck getting one from a dealer, if you want to preserve the original look of the wipers (or make up some cap just to cover that area?)

One possible solution, check the junkyard for this wiper, as all you need is that missing cap, and you can re-use the insert from your existing wiper (assuming it is economically reasonable )
Just a thought.

What proprietary arm? Its just an end cap, all after market blades assemblies will have some sort of stopper at the end, unless you like the big end cap on the Lexus blade for some reason, them you are stuck with OEM. Personally, I think the Lexus blade is pretty good quality and worst the price. If you are trying to save a few bucks, try the cheaper aftermarket blade and change them more often.

The local auto parts store doesn’t list any front wiper replacements that attach to factory arms of the NX.
That’s all I’m saying!....and asking if there was an alternative since it would be expensive just to replace the missing end cap.

I even had to return the Costco Michelin wipers cuz there was no attachment that would work

Unless the Canadian NX’s are different?

You may want to order from RockAuto (in the US) and if they allow return if not fit, a complete set to make peace with yourself ?

Ended up ordering entire new driver side wiper assembly from Lexus.....got s bit of a break so was worth it to avoid any more hassle

Moral of the story: don’t lose the wiper end caps!

....oh and BTW, a similar year Toyota RAV4 option was no luck. They use a one piece wiper with no end caps

Default 19mm square button adaptor?

From my perspective, it is not the end cap that matters. If the rubber deteriorates, one can buy new inserts to replace. If an end cap is missing (for whatever reasons), one has to replace the whole wiper, which is the issue in this thread.

So, my question to the OP is: can you verify if the RAV4 wipers interchangeable with NX?

Apparently, the key issue is that the OEM wiper assembly if available should have an adaptor to work with the square push-button release from the NX wiper arms. If they are, and cost for a set of 2 is about the same as one with NX cap, then one can have a choice, as it does not really matter with an end cap missing, if there are reasonable OEM wipers set (Driver & Passenger) to achieve the same look?

My 2 cents.

Thanks for clearing that up, so the wrong thread is about a lost cap on the wiper blade and the inability to buy just the end cap from the dealer. In this case, I would go with oem wipers since I hate adaptors on wiper arm assembly.
