What's the largest hard drive that can be functionally connected to USB port? I plugged in my solid state HD to it yesterday and it won't read it. Just says USB and ambient blue screen. Plugged 16GB USB stick back in - works fine.
So I am curious, if there is some sort of HD size limit?

Huh, should have looked. It's NTFS. It got to be FAT32, as far as I remember. I'll format it.

Hmm... I can format it to exFAT... no other option FAT... I'll see what happens.

 

No luck. Won't recognize exFAT. So it will recognize ONLY FAT32, that is outdated and for USB only.

 

Went to Walmart and bought a 128Sandisk for $27 or so. Happened to be FAT32 format. I test drove it on a smaller size file, worked fine. So I put about 20Gb worth of audio onto it right now.
My W10 still refuses to format anything in FAT32. Wish I could do my 300 Gb drive. But 128 will get me by for some time.

 

I would try https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ its what i use for all my sd cards/usb sticks, but I am pretty sure it will work for an ssd as well.

Peculiarly, Windows say that you CAN"T FAT32 anything above 32Gb and here I am - 128 Gb in OEM FAT32.
