2015 RC 350 . The remote start on the FOB did not work till we activated our free enform remote app Then after enform app expire the FOB quit also. Lexus said that the FOB will not work without a subscription. I can not believe that. The technology is there but I quest you have to pay for it.
Does anyone else have any thought on this?

Latest news is that the subscription has just been reduced substantially.
When you bought the RC is was $165/year for just the Safety Connect/Service Connect
The Remote Start/Guest Driver Monitor/Vehicle Finder/Vehicle Monitor was $250/year and
if you wanted the Navigation Assistance as in the original trial it would have been $350/year.

Last month Lexus lowered everything to multiples of $80. SC alone...$80
Safety Connect/Service Connect + Remote Start etc. is now $160 rather than $250.
I do not personally think anyone but an Lyft driver needs to pay another $80 for the
Nav operator because Lexus Enform App Suite links your phone and is free whether you enroll
in the other Enform services or not. If you have gotten used to the treat then the subscription
for everything is now $240, down from the former $350/year.

 

hmmm, I may have to think about this again. At the previous prices, I wasn't interested.

just noticed, that's for the 2018 models and Safety Connect seems "complimentary" for 10 years, which would explain things a little

 

To connect you, Lexus and the car you need Safety Connect.
The optional features of Remote Start and Destination Assist
need that connect to function so you can pick and choose:
a) Lexus Enform App Suite (all 2014 and newer Nav level cars) $0
b) Safety Connect (all 2010 and newer) $80/year
c) Safety Connect + Remote Start (all 2016 and newer, 2015 Sedans w/Nav) $160/year
d) Safety Connect + Destination Assist (all 2010 and newer Nav level cars) $160/year
e) Safety Connect + RS + DA (2016 and newer Nav level cars) $240/year
The Key Fob works to RS if you are enrolled, stops when you are not.

 

actually, I don't believe remote start technically requires the data connection to Lexus. It's just a choice Lexus made to link it and kill the feature when you no longer have a subscription. Pretty sure all the communication is just between the FOB and car. Which is the thing that irks us all.
