more gears done correctly is always better, only penalty being drive-terrain loss and weight.
Just as an example my M3 was 7-DCT twin clutch and it only has a higher redline speed of 3mph at 208mph over the 6-MT 205mph with a much lower final drive.

Ive said it before, the NX would be much better with a 8-speed AT, not for the extra MPG because it won't really gain any, but it'll drive around town much better. The 6-speed is slugglish and shifts are more rough than the 8-speed in the RC and RX. The lexus 8-speed does hunt for gears a bit too much but I'll still take that over having 2 less cogs. Lexus should just cave and get with the program and use the zf-8 speed from the new 7-ers.
You do know that the the ZF 8 speed in the bimmer, a very nicely programmed and reliable shifter, would not work in the NX as its not designed for the FWD layout in the NX. The transverse mounted ZF transmissions available right now are the DiSASTER prone 9 speed. Recalls, reprogramming, phantom lingering noises. I know the 8 speed asin unit in the RX is probably the best 8 speed unit out there for FWD powertrains, but again its tuned for cutthroat EPA mileage hunting. I know alot of owners who bar none would take the 6 speed over the 8 speed

Not until September early October.

Don't look for to many changes. Lexus is very slow to make big changes especially a total new car like the NX. You will probably see some small things like more sound deadening material, and acoustical side glass to quiet the interior sound which has been a complaint with most owners. Different OEM tires. The base car Yokohama's are very noisy. If you are looking for an 8 speed auto, forget it. Again, minor changes only if any.

Wish Lexus explained why they don't use 8 speed. It's in IS and GS.

Just curious, did the salesman state what the increase was ? I'm surprised that dealers are getting 2017 NX's as normally Toyota/Lexus does a press release prior to the new models coming out advising of prices, changes, etc.

No he did not. A little background - I was there getting ready to buy the 2016 NX. It was AWD fully loaded except the triple led lights. The price came out to be a little over $46k. They went down to $44k. Then I decided to wait for 2017. He told me the new one was $1,200 more. I didn't ask why/for what because we'd decided to buy the 2017 RX.

Now I'm curious- I'm going to ask him. Will keep you guys posted.

Yea that line price is going to increase is basically a sales tactic until theres a legit document provided to ya. Needed the sale, so he said whatever he could to get ya to make a sale

So I stopped by during lunch and he took me to the back (where new cars came in and are waiting for cleaning) turned out his buying agent made a mistake and it was an 2016 not 2017. They said November they will have both 2017 NX & RX. Sorry guys.
