First of all, the NX had no door courtesy lights—puddle lights, yes, but no courtesy lights.
What is the point of courtesy lights when there are already puddle lights?
And I personally don't like the ones that project the logo on the floor. I think that's really tacky and ostentatious. I don't care too much about flaunting the car brand out.
if the original car door is without door lights, then the car can't install the Plug and play door projector lights, there are other door courtesy lights that are fixed by sticker, it can install.
Have them on both our RX and NX. First saw them on my neighbors MB. Bought on Amazon for less than $20 for a pair and takes two minutes to replace. Besides the logo they are brighter than the original and project down not straight out which is useless. They illuminate the ground so you will not at night step in oil, water etc.
I normally don't like these either. However, I did buy the OEM ones for my RCF which I think look clean. Most of the eBay/amazon ones I've seen have all sorts of different hues to them and they are not clear. Looks really tacky to me, especially seeing OEM ones next to them.
As noted some of them just project the image rather than "ambient" puddle light and a logo. I'm not a fan of the ones that say the brand either only because I know what car I have, I don't need LEXUS to be projected on the ground every time I open the door...lol
I looked at my wife's NX and she doesn't have any in door puddle lights. The puddle light that illuminates the ground at least in her 18' is in the exterior door handle and points downwards. So there is no way of changing that to anything. I actually like it because it's nice and clean. Same with the exterior door handle illuminating slightly, my RCF does this as well and it's such a clean/simple look.
See you're in Massachusetts. Do you know a good non dealer mechanic to work on my 2004 GX 470 in eastern Mass Say Boston south to Cape and west to Worcester.
Had one in New Bedford that retired. May want to do a suspension conversion and have a timing belt done in another 10K. Thanks for any advice. Mark
Dont forget to buy the matching LED Lexus front emblem.
G Man...Can you recommend a shop in Massachusetts to work on my 2004 GX 470? Eastern Mass Boston to the cape and west to Worcester that is not a dealer. May want to do suspension conversion and I'll need a timing belt in a while. Thanks for any advice. Mark
