Small And Midsize Luxury SUV Sales In America - April 2016 YTD - 3rd in the small segment behind the RDX and GLC. The RDX had a huge April while the NX dropped after a strong March. Meanwhile, big bro RX dominates the midsize segment as usual.

Top 15 Best-Selling Luxury Vehicles In America - April 2016 - Surprised to see the NX 9th among ALL luxury vehicles in YTD sales, 12th in April. Not bad. However, it's still lagging behind the RDX significantly YTD. Note the RX is #1 even on this list.

I thought in its second year the NX would start kicking the RDX's butt, but I'm disappointed to see the NX trailing the RDX big by 3000 YTD. The RDX had 8000 more in 2015, but that was the NX's first full year on the market.

 

Good discount and price to be had on the RDX probably helped its sales. I could've got a RDX with a deeper discount % wise to MSRP comparatively to the NX but I had a MDX for 10 yrs and RDX looks bland inside and out to me so I opted for the NX F sport and couldnt be happier.

 

The whole luxury compact CUV segment is hot right now. Before the RDX took and held the sales lead every month it seems the sales lead would fluctuate between the RDX, Q5, X3 and GLK. This was pre-NX, MKC, GLC etc. and the landscape has changed a bit since the. I was shopping in the segment at the time and would look at the New Car Sales thread on Car Chat just to see what was going on.

 

Going by the interior, the RDX really shouldn't be allowed to call itself a luxury car. It's actually more bland than a CR-V and the styling is not much better either. Otherwise the RDX presents a pretty good value proposition.

 

here in South Florida we see a lot of NX and new RX on the road, very few RDX but the MDX is popular. A lot of ML and GLE models, lots of GLK but the new GLC is scarce. Audi Q5 is all over as well.

 

RDX stepped up its content with BSM, Land Departure, Pre-collision, etc for 2016. Then factor in V6 power and the value proposition becomes very attractive despite the generic styling and Honda-esque interior.

However, at this price-range, NX still wins my heart thanks to its exceptional styling and build/materials quality. If purely a sensible decision (and not mostly an emotional one), I'd be in a RAV4 Hybrid.

 

Here's one factor that helped the RDX sales. My neighbor is getting ready to travel north for the summer and they were told that the air bags replacements in their Acura TL won't be available for months. So not wanting to drive cross country and all summer without airbags they traded in their car for a new RDX.

Also, here in the Tampa Bay area I have yet to see a new 4RX on the road and very few NX's.

 

I'm still pissed that the NX, a luxury car, doesn't come with those things standard, plus power tailgate . I'm prepared to be very disappointed when the NX's mid-cycle update has all those things standard.

The other thing is the RDX takes regular gas and offers similar mileage even with the standard V6.

 

I agree with your disappointment. You had to get into some really expensive models to get many of those features.They were standard on the tech edition of the RDX at a lower price point.
