Engine noise
If you hear the humming noise coming from the engine on the upper right (passenger side) then it is the vacuum valve regulator. apparently it has been a common issue. It's a very quick fix though....only took 30 min at my dealer and is under warranty. Engine is back to being quiet again.
Geez I wonder why they wouldn’t accept my video recordings as substantial evidence of the noise. They ended up sending me home and telling me to come back when I can reproduce the noise... I even played the videos posted on this thread too. Do you do anything in particular to trigger the sound?
Vacuum Regulating Valve The Vacuum Regulating Valve (VRV) is a ECM duty cycled controlled device that limits the amount of vacuum going to the wastegate actuator. The VRV receives vacuum from the vacuum pump and check valve and provides this vacuum source to the wastegate actuator through vacuum lines in the system. During diagnosis of the turbocharger system, the VRV can be active tested. This active test is labeled as Wastegate Valve Control Duty Ratio.
I am on my 3rd regulator

So Im passing on my next 500 miles on the odometer. Im very impressed with my NX F-Sport thus far with the exception on the engine noise. I know it's a 4 cylinder but it dose seem to be loud coming through the engine compartment into the interior. Sounds like a struggling 4 cylinder. I can hear the turbo whirling but engine seems loud for a $50,000 price tag vehicle.
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Thanks vkliem21;
Mine still noisy little 4 cylinder. However i'm still impressed with the pulling power of this turbo 4 cylinder. I'm hoping for a recall but don't think it's coming. I past posting seems noise maybe coming from some sort of a butter fly valve feeding air intake in the back of engine. Anyway I have found the harder I drive the better the engine runs. Smoother engine and better response. Wondering if were babying this engine too much thinking it can't handle harsh treatment. Some engines like to a once and a while rev to it's limit when the limiter kicks in. Not a big fan of this but can tell you that it's a night and day when I have do so and drive it the next day. A real notice in the power and smoothness at a stop.

As far as ride and quality of my F Sport. I have about 12000 on the clock and its still tight. Little more wind noise than I expect from a Lexus. However rides and feels as smooth as the day I drove off the lot. Very pleased. Would like to see Lexus getting more into the SUV with a open bed like some sort of pick-up style. Well see.............
HI all, i posted on this thread 4 years ago about the humming noise and turns out it was a bad regulator valve. Fast forward to today and about 140,000 km later, the noise is back as seen in the video below. Just wondering if it will be replaced under any warranty? I live in Canada
