Has anyone ever tried using 1/2 tank of premium fuel and 1/2 tank regular fuel?

I did once a long time ago, but it didn't seem worth the effort. Mid range would give you close to the same effect. These days I just decide to use either regular or premium depending on the car or my personal preference.

Why would you go through the trouble of filling up your car with half regular and half premium...you don't save that much.

I blend my gas to get 91 since in Canada, we have 94 octane. It saves me 7$ a tank over the price for 91 octane at the pump, well worth my 30 seconds additional time it takes me.

Well here in the states there's an average of $.20/gal difference between regular and premium, so blending the gas would save about $1...yay...haha

My NX seems to run the same on regular or premium. The mid grade which is 89 in South Florida is simply the pump mixing 1/3 premium with 2/3 regular. Stations don;t actually have an 89 octane fuel in their underground tanks

Funny that this is discussed when fuel prices are so low right now.

All pumps in Ontario sell 91. Why do you blend it yourself to get 91?

Gas stations order premium and regular gas, all mid range ones (89 and 91 here in Vancouver BC) are blended at the pumps.

Slightly more than half of 94, remaining 87 to get the 91 blend for the net price of 89. These days, the difference is more like 5$ a tank and when really cold, I just fill with 91.

You is genius.

But does fuel really mix that easily? Or should I do donuts after I mix a tank?

^^^ haha. No donuts necessary. The fuels mix when you pump the second one in the tank.
