Default Installing Options on a base model

So lets say after we buy the NX without any options and a few years down the road you want navigation and/or BSM, would the dealer be able to install it for you then or if I don't have it when I purchase the vehicle I can never have it?

Thanks

Most likely yes, but if you want OEM NAV, BSM etc. the cost of parts and labor will be REAL high. Almost cost prohibitive. It's probably best to bite the bullet and get the NX with those feature initially. Better resale too.

Why would you want to do it that way?

If it's about money then don't because you are much better off waiting to buy the car you want when you can afford it, then trying to get any options put on after purchase.

Or here's another idea...you can buy the car you can afford now and then trade it in a few years later for a car with the features you want. it'll save you money and alot of headache.

This is a terrible idea and unrealistic.

Dealers will not install OEM Nav or safety tech to cars. It would take too much of their time to install and program. Additionally, it shifts responsibility to the dealer for the install. Also, the resale value might be affected negatively since the VIN will not match the original build. Pretty sure Lexus also wouldn't allow dealers to do this. If somehow a dealer was willing to do it, the parts cost alone would cost way more than ordering it optioned on the car directly from the factory. Just suck it up, option the car the way you want it, and drive a car you'll be happy with.

Agree with above. Not likely possible and would be cost-prohibitive if possible. If you really want more options in the future, I daresay it would even be cheaper to trade for a higher model.

That is my plan to keep mine for a few years and trade in for a higher end model.
