Test drive today
Test drove the NX 200t today. As always, the Lexus experience was great with a well informed salesman, good trade in offer and even a box of chocolates. Great discounts being offered with 3 year free servicing thrown in.
However, the NX was disappointing to drive. The biggest problem was the turbo lag and transmission. I struggled to drive the car smoothly. There was a momentary delay while the turbo spooled up then the power hit. The transmission hunted gears to keep up. Felt like my early jerky attempts at driving a manual.
The suspension with the AVS system also went from hard to really hard. There was no softer option. Disappointing as I really wanted to like the car and was ready to sign on the dotted line.
Haven't given up as I will retest the 2016 update hoping the transmission has been reprogrammed.
By the way, irritating rattle from the drivers door in a 2 week old car!

Hmmm, I've seen people with this same complaint posting before. TypicLly it's on the F-Sport. I wonder if the sales people are putting the car in sport mode?
I have had the opposite experience. Very smooth transmission, great ride. I don't have the F and rarely drive in sport mode. No adjustable suspension but the ride is great for us. Also, no rattles at all.
I would drive another car on the lot and try a non-F sport as well.
I can understand your disappointment but definitely give it another shot with anothe NX then decide. It will likely be worth the time.

Drove the Sports Luxury model which in Australia is a fully loaded NX with F Sport suspension. Unfortunately in Australia only the base stripped out version of each model comes without the sports suspension.
The salesman was playing with the settings ****.
Might also explain why fuel use was excessively high.
Miop4000, I totally relate to the powertrain responsiveness and agree. It does get more responsive with more mileage - I now have over 10k km and find it a little peppier on initial launch, merging, and passing.
Rattles and squeaks will happen with even the most expensive cars. It's how the car company deals with them and Lexus has never let me down in terms of treating these complaints seriously.
As far as ride, two things on an AVS-equipped car.
1. Drive Selector modes set the dampening force in two modes, "adaptive moderate" or "adaptive firm". The latter is only available in Sport S+ mode while the former is in the other three modes Eco, Normal, and Sport S. In short, pay attention to the "+" on the center gauge 4.2 inch LCD screen. The "adaptive" part is the dampening force adjusts automatically from a relatively softer up to "moderate" or up to "firm", depending on the drive selector mode. I find that when I start the car first thing in the morning, the suspension feels stiffer coming out of my driveway/sidewalk ramp and for the next couple of miles. (I'm usually in Normal mode). After which, it gets softer and more comfortable than the RX F Sport I owned.
2. Tire pressure... I bet it was set too high like 99.9% of Lexus dealers do (at least on N. America). Ask to drop it to 32 psi.
In short, go for another test drive with a lower tire pressure, a longer drive (at least 10-15 miles), and keep the mode out of Sport S+.
Let us know.

I would like to add that I have an F Sport, no rattles ( only a slight cracking sound when temp is very hot and AC hits the side of the silver molding on the interior doors ) . I have had no other noises. The drive is very smooth, and quiet transmission. I lowered my tire pressure to 32psi ..they were at 37 38. Made a big difference. I use both normal and sport modes...no problems in either.
10,000K on my 2015 NX200T and dealer fixed the rattle coming from underneath the driver side and now it is all perfect
Trottle response is great, and lower the tire pressure to 33 and there is nothing wrong with this unit, not even a recall after checking VIN on Lexus site
Very nice purchase and very enjoyable ride, and previous rides where Audi, Mercedes and Acura all 2010 and up, closest to this was our 2014 MDX
