Default Dashboard heats to 150F while driving

I have a black NX200t with flaxen interior. The dashboard heats to the point that it is impossible to touch during driving. I've measured the temperature with an infrared thermometer and it read from 142 to 153 across the dashboard. I was not parked in the sun, but driven for 10 min on HWy and 10 min city. My previous cars did not have this problem. The car roof also heats up a bit, comparing to my friends' black cars. One is an older Jetta ( 5 y.o.), another brand new X3. Went for a long drive two weeks ago and almost had a heat stroke riding. AC helps, but not too much. Anyone else have this problem? Went to the dealership today and was told that it is normal.

you might want to look at doing tints (or clear) for the windows

some will help with that

Thanks, I am planning on installing the Crystalline tint on windshield and sides, but was wondering if anyone experienced this overheating. I don't think this should occur on the car of 'luxury' category. After forking 40+k for the car you should not drop more cash to make it comfortable IMHO

Larabond,welcome to the forum.

Temps haven't been crazy high in my area, around the mid 80s tops so can't confirm any excessive interior heat. But keep in mind the dash depth is deeper equating to a large surface area for sun radiation capture (and eventual heat release) vs a Jetta or X3 which have shallower dash boards.

Are you saying the dashboard was emanating enough heat into the interior that the A/C was barely able to cool it off? And when you say you could not touch the dashboard...do you mean the top, flat part of it right under the windshield, or do you mean you could not touch any part of the dashboard?

In any case, where I live, we had four 100 degree days last week with extreme humidity. I was out driving and parking in the sun on those days and I am not having this issue. I do not have any after=market tint on the windshield. My A/C works just fine to cool the car down effectively. I don't normally touch the top of my dashboard ever (except to dust it occasionally), so I have no idea what the temp is up there, but I bet it gets very hot there in any car...but not to the point that the A/C would not cool down the car.

I have a flaxen interior also; I have a 55% tint on the windshield (you can barely tell unless you know) and 30% elsewhere. My dash still gets too hot to touch but I've noticed no issues of the car not cooling.

Thanks everyone for replying. The temperature was mid 80s when I first noticed it. Can't touch the dashboard above the steering wheel with the leatherette. The area with plastic does not get that hot. The roof also heats to a very uncomfortable temperature in the sun. I've been in my friends' black car with a sunroof, and after parking it for an hour under the sun, the roof was barely warm. NX gets too warm for comfort.
