I've had the mud guards on since delivery and the snow still built up. It's only after implementing this seal extension fix did the accumulation notably reduce. Also, as per typocl, one or two members have also pointed out a reduction of snow with the running boards. Would be interesting to know if anyone has done both.
So now that snow is over (for now)...how much dirt gets up in the door sills? I was wondering if I still need to do this in Hawaii, we do get some rain.

I can't confirm if it's an issue or not in summer since I did the fix when I got my car in winter. Another thing to consider is that members of this forum have not complained of this issue at all in these summer months so I would say you wouldn't need the fix in your climate unless you drive over dirty roads AND you notice an accumulation that bothers you.
Noticed this too and was wondering how to fix this.... great info! Would be great if someone could put together an instruction video outlining a bit more details on attaching the liner to the OEM liner. I'd hate to start putting staples where I shouldn't and messing this up.
DBCOM, in hindsight a video would have probably been better and undoing and redoing it now would be messy. Hopefully the pics and instructions still help.
UPDATE: So I checked out a 2016 NX today at my dealer when I brought the NX in for servicing. Specifically, I went to look at the bottom seal and it looks to be the same rubber seal as the '15.
Yeah that's unfortunate. I mentioned it to sales rep who sold me the vehicle in June... I wanted to check the new RX to see whether it was the same, but didn't get a chance. Anyone get a glimpse of how the RX doors are setup?

Hard to say if the RX will have the same problem as it does have a different lower valence...
Here are some more shots of the 16' RX that I took in Lexus Gallery Aoyama, Tokyo. I paid particular attention to this detail as I was wondering if the same problem exists for RX as well.
One interesting thing is I don't recall any NX owner in MinKara Carview, the biggest Japanese car blog, that has ever complained about this seal fix.
Nice pics and info AndyL as always! The RX looks far better sealed and designed from your pics. The bottom plastic on the doors curves inward so it looks like it would better block the snow from coming up. Not quite the case with the NX. and I'll be curious to hear back from NX owners in this thread on their experiences this winter.

I live in Ohio and I'm glad I put off my purchase of the '15 & now the '16 NX.
I like the style of the F Sport however I'm in no hurry to buy....I'll just keep my RX for the time being.

Nice to see you went looking for this. It is sealed now with a rubber seal compared to a dirt trap gap. I suspect that's a '16.

Looks like the gap was just filled with another piece of rubber. Could be a simple add-on to the '15 once we find out the part number. Only question is, does it solve the problem...
Doesn't look like the bottom of the door is improved?
Issue: Bottom door panels accumulate an abnormal amount of dirt and snow. In addition, the rear door accumulates dirt in the gap between the wheel arch trim and door. More information here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/nx-...the-frame.html
Fix: Install garage door vinyl weather stripping, stapled and glued to existing OEM rubber seal along entire rocker panel length. Apply 1/4 " door weather stripping and silicone caulking to fill the wheel arch trim gap.

I have had the mud guards from Day 1 and snow got up there in the lower door.
The fix is holding up, no issues and continues to reduce the door snow accumulation.
For complete elimination of snow buildup, I believe the running boards will do the trick as some owners have stated, but not without the downside of being loud when rocks or debris hit it. They can chime in as desired.
I have the running boards but I still do notice the building up of dirt accumulation inside the doors. I will keep an eye out for it and report back as we are getting some snow here in 604 (crazy, I know!).
