Hatchback malfunction question
Greetings, folks. I'm a complete newbie here and I hope that starting a new thread with this question is appropriate.
2015 NX300h has a hatchback problem. Automatic raise/lower does not work. Only get a beep in response to pressing the buttons for it in the interior and on the key. It is possible to lift and lower the hatch manually, but it gives great resistance in both directions. It's almost like a gym exercise. This would be annoying if it were my car, but it's now my daughter's car, and it is quite the undertaking for her to lift and lower the hatch.
My question: Does anyone know if it's possible to disconnect whatever the motor mechanism is, such that it becomes like any typical manual hatch (i.e., easy to raise/lower)? I'm guessing that it would be very expensive to repair/replace the mechanism so that it operates automatically again.
Thanks for any ideas.

Welcome to the Club and your 1st post!!
This subject has been discussed in several different threads.
I'll post some of these threads links below for you to choose your best option on how you want to address your situation going forward.
There are those that want to save money and fix it by ordering parts and DIY; others that are experiencing noises in the their liftgate/tailgate and want that fixed, and some that would rather disable the lift and open / close it manually. I think it all boils down to the struts that are on either side of liftgate.
I will try to cover all those bases in the thread links below. Here is the first two:

Here is a LONG thread -- but lots of helpful ideas:
