I purchased these trunk lights on Amazon and they turned out to be great. Direct, easy, 5 min swap and a massive increase in brightness. These do not have a switch on them, but they turn on and off with the trunk. I actually prefer it this way as the switches were always getting flipped by stuff in the trunk. The stock lights were old school filament bulbs, so these are more of a blue color, but they look good.

Stock ones are pretty dim, especially if you put something in front of the light. These have helped a lot in the few weeks I have used them.
Just curious if you adjusted the internal lighting on dashboard, etc. to the brightest if it made any difference or is this a stupid question bc that only adjusts the dash, screen, etc. and not the doors, overhead lighting?
I tend to dim the lighting a bit as I don’t like the dash so bright bc it hurts my eyes — I do the same thing on my pc or laptop monitors.

RofH: If your NX is model year 2018 or newer, the linked bulbs will not be applicable. Beginning with models manufactured in Sept 2017, the user-replaceable incandescent bulb cargo area lights were replaced with (equally dim) LED lights. Unfortunately, the LEDs in these light assemblies are not installed in sockets, so not readily replaceable. Converting to brighter LED lighting is somewhat more involved, but not that difficult. If you decide your existing lights are too dim, we can post links to previous modifications done by other forum contributors.

I have MY 2020 — Are you talking about both links above as the first one by OP from Amazon states MY “2015-up” as shown in photo below — is that incorrect?
If so, I will take a look at mine while it’s dark and if needed I’ll ask you to post links to previous mods as you offered. I thought I also saw a thread about adding lights other than the ones that come in trunk, but not sure if that was for the NX.
I appreciate you letting me know 👍
If this is incorrect - they shouldn’t mislead people to waste their money!!
I was referring only to the bulbs linked in Post #6. The Amazon / iJDMTOY lights linked by the OP should work fine because they replace the entire assembly rather than just the bulb. The 2 pins you can see at the left side of the Amazon product image should mate to the factory connectors that are used both before and after the model year 2018 transition.
The attached drawing shows how to remove the original lamp assemblies without breaking them. The crosshatched regions indicate where to apply protective tape to prevent damage to the trim. However, you really only need it on the side where the tool will be used. A small metal putty knife works best. Slide the knife sideways between lens and trim to depress the internal plastic retaining clip, and then twist slightly to pop out that edge. Next, slide the entire assembly toward the opened end to release the clip on the far end.
Okay, Great 😎 — I couldn’t open Post #6’s link anyway so easier for me to get the iJDMTOY lights from Amazon.
I’m going to check my trunk lights once it gets dark tonight to see if brighter lights needed for my taste.
Thanks so much for including detailed instructions w/ drawing — very helpful indeed 😃
Again, I appreciate you taking the time to help us beginner DIYers and Big Thanks to @gompka for initiating this Thread 👍 — his SpongeBob just cracks me up every time I see it

Thanks for the explanation n0v8or, on a side note at least in my 2016, it doesn't use Festoon bulbs, mine had a wedge bulb in there. I think its much easier to use the whole assembly and its a direct plug in to the factory harness and now confirmed to work on all model years.
