Can anyone let me know why it is saying I am on the gas of some sort when I am not on the guess and not driving? This happened to me a few months ago and I’m not sure if it’s a broken sensor or what cause it’s saying I’m on the gas or something when I’m not on the throttle and I’m just sitting at a light. Shouldn’t the blue bar only move when I’m in the gas?
This is a display of the cumulative fuel consumption rate calculated by the engine control computer. It is not the current fuel consumption rate. It is the inverse of the fuel consumption metric commonly used in Europe, India, Japan, and South Korea: Liters per 100kM. In your image, the cumulative fuel consumption since the previous calculator reset is ~10.53 L/100kM, which is the inverse of the displayed value multiplied by 100. Note:10.53L/100kM is equivalent to 23.52 miles per gallon.
As an example, if you reset the calculator, then drive 100kM while consuming 10L of fuel, the blue bar marker (<>) will indicate a value of 10 kM/L, which is (100kM / 10L). If you now consume another 0.53L of fuel while stopped due to a traffic blockage, with the engine running to warm the cabin, the blue bar marker will gradually move to the left. You are not "on the gas", but the fuel injectors and fuel pump are still transferring fuel from the tank to the engine. Once 0.53L of fuel has been consumed with zero corresponding increase in kM traveled, the marker will indicate 9.5kM/L, which is (100kM / 10.53L).
