We first noticed that the turn signal on the passenger side was out from the fast signal the car does when this happens. My wife took the car to a Toyota dealership where we usually get work done and they gave us an estimate of $1115. I was shocked because I thought it was just a bulb and didn't realize the assembly is really a box with LED lights all over it and the brake and tail lights were also not working. I still thought I could do better and I bought the assembly myself for about $600 (including taxes), compared to the $900 they were going to charge us for just the part. I was able to remove the old taillight, mostly following directions from this forum, but I got stuck trying to replace it with the new one which included the wire harness. The wire harness goes into the body and then goes upwards to attach the white plug end. I took most of the removable pieces out of the trunk and got within one trim piece of getting access, but was stymied by the carpeted panel on the side of the trunk. That is going to need to come out to access where the harness plugs in.
Meanwhile I also tried connecting the new assembly to the current wire harness and the new assembly didn't work either. The wire harness looks a little chewed up and that might be the problem. I also thought it could be a fuse issue, but looking at the fuses in the engine, under the dash in the cabin and next to the battery under the spare, I couldn't tell which fuse that might be or if the two sides of the car even have separate fuses.
Would anyone have any instructions on how to behind the side trunk panel to install the wire harness plug?
Could this be a fuse problem and if so, where is the fuse I need to find and inspect?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks- Phil
UPDATE: After hours of searching, I was able to find a video on YouTube that showed my exact vehicle and how to take all the trunk panels apart.
. This video was from someone installing a trailer wiring harness, but it had all the steps I needed. After taking the pieces I out, I hooked up the new harness and new taillight assembly to the connector and the new taillight assembly worked. Then I tried hooking up the old taillight assembly to the new wiring harness at the taillight end of the harness and the old light assembly worked also. So, the only thing that was broken was the wiring harness itself. Like I said, the old wiring harness looked chewed up and had some black electric tape wrapped around part of it which the new wiring harness didn't have. I called the dealer and said I wanted to return the new taillight assembly, but keep the wiring harness and they said if I ordered just the wiring harness itself and returned it with the light assembly they would take it back. In the end, I only had to pay for the wiring harness which was $38. And a lot of hours figuring it out and doing the work.

Hi Cgris...,
Did you solve your tai light problem? Have an led burnt out on our 2015 NX200t. Unfortunately it's the top one which is a LED. After searching on line on hoe to fix, it was suggested to check the fuse. Like you there are dozens of them and not sure which one would be for that. I'm assuming a fuse would work both sides (L and R) and the L side is working.

There should be a single fuse, labeled "tail" that protects the wires for both tail lights, license plate lights, and front/rear marker lights. Unless all of these LEDs are not functional, a blown fuse is not the cause.
Thanks N0v80r,
I appreciate the info. All the lights are working except the brake light on the passenger side so I'll have to spend the ~$300 for the R tail light assembly.

Wow...that's quite a bit cheaper. However after all that it's working now. The connector apparently wasn't in all the way. So when I removed the assembly and looked it over, then realized it was a LED for the brake light, I reinstalled it. So now after all that it now works. But thanks for your help. I'll keep the carparts.com site saved for future use.
I do have another question about the club lexus site. I also have a 2019 RC F. I had to install brakes (front) recently and after looking around the internet and this site, there weren't detailed accurate instructions. So I took a ton of pictures. Now trying to figure out how to get those onto Club Lexus' site. Is there instructions on how to do that? I'll also need to add a detailed description under or with each photo explaining what to do.
Thanks

If you have a Google/Gmail account (free), you can create a Dropbox account (also free) at dropbox.com.
Copy all your images and descriptive text to a folder in Dropbox, and then post a link to it in the appropriate Lexus forum.
Reviving an old thread. Someone brushed up against my 2017 NX in a local parking lot and cracked my right rear taillight assembly. I've purchased the OEM replacement from Lexus and hoping to do the removal / install myself. I've found a decent video on how to remove the old assembly and I'd prefer to leave the original wiring harness in place and just move the old connections to the new assembly. The fixture for the bulb is easy to twist / remove. However, I cannot figure out how to remove the wiring from the white 'clip' at the top of the assembly. I certainly don't want to damage it trying to figure it out.
Does anyone have a decent pic / diagram / video that shows exactly how the release on that white clip works?
Refer to attached cropped region of your photo.
The portion within the red dashed rectangle appears to be a typical automotive connector locking tab.
Try using a small flat-blade screwdriver to push down where the red arrow is pointing while simultaneously trying to slide (with the same screwdriver) it toward you.
Do not attempt to pull on the wires, as they may become detached from the connector.
I added a video link that shows how to take the trunk apart and get to where the harness clips in and how to release it. This is for the body end of the harness. I see n0v8or showed you how to detach the assembly.
