I just got a deposit certificate requesting for certificate of change from DMV instead of my plate sticker. I believe it's for Emissions Check from an authorized Lexus Dealer only.

I am not very happy because on the Renewal Notice from DMV, it never mentioned a smog check requirement.

Now my tags expired and the statement that sent only says "proof of deposit" of my check and cannot be used as proof of registration.

Best Lexus of Stevens Creek can do is schedule an appointment for next of June 12 which I cannot go because I need to work over time.

What are my options if I get pulled over for expired tag?

If you car is due for a smog, you can have it smogged at any licensed smog test facility...

you need to get your recall done and have the dealer fill out the emission form to turn into dmv

Thanks for the info... I just took it to Fremont Lexus. This is exactly it...

I guess DMV is now enforcing recalls. I wish they could've given an earlier heads up instead letting the tags expire.

Any way, I got a nice ES350 Loaner until tomorrow.
