That's a nice sig nextlevel I remember you from the King's Plaza last year (and also at the LI track meet). Yeah the weather threw a wrench into our plans of the FBF meet and whatever, forcing us to revert to KIng's, but that worked out somehow for all of us

Onto serious matters...

Since nobody seems to be offering alternate NY meet locations, I'll list out some of mine based on my NYC roadmap ...

- Prospect Park (b/n Prospect Expwy & Flatbush Ave)
- Flushing Meadows Corona Park (in Queens)
- Bronx Zoo Park
- Liberty State Park (in Jersey City, NJ, across the Hudson from Battery Park)

Note that I've never been to any of them but I figure all of them have some kind of potential. For those who HAVE been to any of them, PLEASE post up your thoughts (+/-) of the place(s), etc. so we all have a better understanding of where to hold a meet for us NY, CT, NJ people.

Remember that this will not work without your involvement

the only thing that we might need an altenative location is in case of the bad weather, meaning something uner the roof, i have one alt. location but unfortinatly its almost as same as FBF, Marinie park but i dont know any that is under the roof, in drivable distance..

I don't know where Marinie Park is, so if you have any info about it, please post up.

Just a bit off-topic, I read up a little more on Flushing Meadow Park, and I found out that the infamous outdoor globe sculpture (seen in countless rap vids and movies) is located at the center of that park. I've always wondered where that's located, but now I know, hehe.

Marine Park is right near Kings Plaza. It has a few parking lots there, but i dont know how empty they are on weekends. Anybody know?? It would be cool to have a meet there.

Not that much time left before it gets cold, we should decide on a place and time soon.

So far from what I've read, FBF seems to be an option for Oct. 12th, the day before Columbus Day. No one has confirmed yet whether that place permits meets or not

That's why I asked in an early post if anyone from NY who knows about places like this could set up a meet. It could even be a group of organizers if it has to come down to that. I don't really have the time these days to drive down to NYC from CT and scope out these locations, and eventually be responsible for organizing the whole thing. However if you need some info on how to properly set up a meet, call up places, people, etc., I'd be more than happy to provide some help (remember the Bear Mtn meet I set up last June? )

So who's willing to take the reins for this meet? Dennis ("VSsc400")? Alexus? Anyone?

When I called the parks department they told me we CANNOT hold an event there. Even if we get there they will kick us out.

I voted for Bear Mountain because we CANNOT hold a meet at FBF.

did I mention that the parks department WILL NOT issue a permit for a meet at FBF?

I vote for Bear Mountain.

Just shooting from the hip, but how about Canarsie Pier? its a large area with a pretty nice view, its 1 or 2 exits away from FBF and right off the highway.

Like I said, just shooting from the hip, since I'm probably gonna be selling my car soon, I would like to stay away from the long distance trips.
