I should be getting my car up here by no later than late April. I was planning on making HIN NY my 1st official showing in the NE but I think this can be a cool tune up plus its not too far away so put me on the list. Looking forward to meeting many of you this coming spring/summer..

Just curious as to how you guys got a permit for this when there's a huge Mexican Cinco de Mayo event in Flushing Meadows that day that's expected to draw close to a million people there. Even the Mets never schedule a Home game for that weekend.

 

the man behind this meet always has a permit and his meets always have a great turn out so i take his word for it. just be there early so youll have a nice place to park eventho he did say he has a spot saved for us but still with more then 500 cars it'll be hard to save spots for anyone so lets make it nice & easy. Be there early!

From the previous posters comment, one point is this is a public area. The permit does not stop others from using this lot as well. With Cinco DeMayo that weekend, is there a chance that many others will be out there too, meaning the lot may actually get filled to capacity?

Who manages / patrols this area? Is it the public parks & recreation? I've held meets in public parks with only 50+ cars. I had a permit, but again I could not save spaces. Well actually we did until the rangers told us to stop. The other time, we scouted an area that was ALWAYS open on the weekend. Wouldn't you know it that Soccer Season Started that weekend and the lot was 90% filled.

Did you guys read what happened at the President's Day meet aftermath from the SoCal region? That meet has been going on for a few years now. Some drove from very far to attend this meet.

Just watchin out for you guys. Don't want something similar to this to happen to you.

the caravan would start to meet around 10 either at my house or LIcelsiors. it would be people from my area(nassau/queens border) meet at my house, and people from farther up the island(exit 18 +) would meet at joes and then we'd form one big caravan possibly with the rest of the CL folk and go in from there.
