New windshield in Houston
FINALLY replaced my windshield.
I had a rust spot under the top molding that had me waiting. I did not trust a shop to fix it properly and thought I would do it myself... thinking this meant having a windshield guy remove mine to give me access, then fix, allow to dry and then replace. This timeframe kept me putting it off. Finally decided to remove the molding which gave me access. There were multiple other rust areas starting that I did not see with the molding on. Fixed and painted.
Anyone in Houston may want to contact Juan's Autoglass on 249 south of Beltway 8. Now I had to purchase a new factory molding but get this... Juan's charged $100 TOTAL to R&R with new glass
Now, in fairness it took 2 trips. First time they only had a "universal" windshield with a mount for the rearview attached on the glass. This is used on 95-97 models but 98-00 have the rearview mounted on the headliner. They could remove the mount but there would be a blacked out area left and I thought that would bother me. Well, what the heck, for $100 I can live with it... but WAIT... they came up with the correct glass, looks OEM, did a great job. Heck YES.
Honestly, don't know how they can do it, don't think I could DYI for that even if I had the tools and sealants.
Maybe this will help out some of my Houston CL guys!
