My 02 GS300 SD was recently involved in a hit and run which is now becoming a bigger headache then I thought. Car will most likely need a engine swap or rebuild. I've been getting prices in the 3-4k range for rebuilds or rebuilt engines. For that kind of money I was wondering if its better to just swap to a gte motor. And if so, are there any trusted local shops that can do this for me? Im located in northern nj so nj/ny/pa would be preferred. Thanks for any replies.
If you have another car to drive I would take it to Mo at www.swiftracing.com. He is the man when it comes to Lexus tuning and things of the like. If you need something faster I am not sure where to take it. Swift Racing is located in Beltsville, MD.
SRT was my first choice but taking the car to maryland is my last resort. I figured i look locally first then if i do decide to do the gte swap, srt it is. Anyone else do a GTE swap want to fill me in on any thing i should know? pros/cons? pricing for full swap?

Going Gte route on the 02 GS3 will cost you a nice change because toyota changed the wiring in 01.
But if you had a 98-2000 GS300 and you get an Aristo VVTi GTE swap it's almost PNP easy.
I really don't know any shop in that area that will do a gte swap.
SRT doesn't do swap they do the gte block and ge head setup and slap a turbo on it.
I am not saying the gte swap can't be done but it will cost you money since you have the newer GS.
The swap cost 2500-$2800 labor go anywhere from $1000-$3000 depending on what they are doing, meaning if he will need to do the wiring and other stuff.
I would sell drop the ge engine in car and sell it ,and buy like a 2000 GS and then do the swap if you are not trying to come out of your pocket.
Not worth it in my opinion. After doing that a few times... a motor swap always causes more headaches than it is worth. Yes you may go faster 2% of the time you are driving the car. but I would suggest just doing a good rebuild of your existing motor. Keep in mind... going GTE opens up a whole new can of worms. Are you ready for that bill?
Yeah i did some more research on it and going to swap a GE engine back in. Thanks for all the info guys! Im def going turbo in the future when funds are available.
