Change out your 02 sensor if you open the hood its the front part of the motor which is in front of the radiator.

98 GS 400.... I was driving from Jacksonville to Orlando on Sunday night when all of a sudden both my VSC AND my VSC OFF lights come on on the dash at the same time!! I press the VSC button and nothing happens.....it is still on up to today, and my check engine light(Which I know about being on) started to flash and then went steady. Now the car is idling very rough, although I don't know if there is any connection...any ideas?

Default Tsb

I found a TSB that deals with my problem that I am having with my HS250h.

Its a ticking noise that comes from the front windshiled.

I found the following TSB on ALLDATDIY.COM
#sb0090-08r1 MAY 10 - but have no way to view it.

I was wondering if you could scan it for me so I can have it for my service Appt. I have brought the car in twice and they can not replicate the problem.

Thank YOU.

You most likely have a misfire. Change out your spark plugs out first and erase the codes. The vsc light comes on with the check engine light

Tell me about it. My benefit is I own an STI and have snow tires so im cruising over mounds of snow lol. Cat efficiency means that your cats are damaged this is probably due to the motor ending up getting rich. If you havent changed out your spark plugs yet do so now as they are probably fouled and dumping fuel into the cat.

Applicability

TSB REVISION NOTICE
^ May 12, 2010 Rev1:

^ Applicability has been updated to include 2009 - 2010 model years.

Any previous printed versions of this service bulletin should be discarded.

TSB SUPERSESSION NOTICE

The information contained in this TSB supersedes TSB No. NV005-06.
^ Applicability has been updated to include 2008 model year applicable vehicles.

TSB No. NV005-06 is Obsolete and any printed versions should be discarded. Be sure to review the entire content of this service bulletin before proceeding.

Introduction

If a creak tick or rattle noise is heard at the top or bottom of the windshield the source of the noise may be the two windshield stoppers bonded to the top of the windshield or the windshield retainers bonded to the lower edge of the windshield. This bulletin provides the recommended repair procedure to eliminate these types of noises from the windshield area.

Some vehicles have both stoppers and retainers while others may only have stoppers at the top of the windshield. Use the chart in this bulletin to determine the location of the windshield holding devices.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Required Tool & Equipment

Stopper/Retainer Locations

Repair Procedure

Windshield Stopper Repair

1. Remove both sun visors and both A-pillar garnishes and then carefully lower the front of the headliner to gain access to the windshield stoppers (refer to the appropriate model year Repair Manual for the proper procedure).

NOTICE

It is very important that the front of the headliner be lowered carefully and slowly. Applying too much downward force on the headliner will cause it to develop a permanent crease in the surface material.

The stoppers are located on the inside of the passenger compartment behind the windshield glass blackout section (near the top front edge of the metal roof opening). The stoppers are typically located 20 - 25 cm (7.9 - 9.8 in.) inboard of the top corners of the windshield glass.

2. Cut OFF the tip of the plastic stopper as shown in the illustration.

HINT

It is sometimes necessary to bend the metal body tab down to gain access to the shaft of the stopper.

3. Once the tip of the stopper has been removed use a screwdriver to open a gap between the roof panel and the remainder of the plastic windshield stopper.

4. Test drive vehicle prior to reassembly to confirm that the noise has been eliminated.

5. Reassemble the vehicle.

Windshield Retainer Repair:

1. Carefully remove the plastic cowl top ventilator louver at the base of the windshield and store it in a safe location for reinstallation later (refer to the appropriate model year Repair Manual for the proper procedure).

2. Locate the windshield retainers at the lower edge of the windshield.

The retainers are typically located 140 - 200 mm (5.5 - 7.9 in.) inboard of the lower corners of the windshield. The flat portion of the retainer is adhered to the backside of the windshield with double-sided foam-backed tape.

3. Use a "Mini" Hacksaw with a fine tooth 10-inch blade to cut OFF the pin portion of the glass retainer flush with the flat portion of the windshield retainer (see Figures 9 & 10 for pin location).

4. Test drive the vehicle to confirm the elimination of the noise.

5. Reinstall the plastic cowl top ventilator louver(s).

Sunroof you need to open the system all the way. Then you will need to hold the close button until it closes and opens back up and re-closes that will re-initialize it.
So I did this today with the window regulator and it didn't work, does it matter that the replacement was used? would a new one have the same problem? What else can I do. Also, when I try to do the one for the sunroof it doesn't open back up after I hold the button to close it..it just stays closed!

Check the codes and post what it is.

For the window regulator try repeating the steps your probably missing something. If you open the sunroof hold the close button until the sunroof closes and opens back up it will tilt up and go back to the close position at which point you can let go of the close tab. If that does not work you may have to replace the sunroof motor or cables.

Thank you TACH MOTOR for the reply. I finally found the TSB and it says the likely cause is an air leak at the Air Intake Controller. Changing that on a RX330 seems too difficult to me so the Lexus dealer is going to pick it up and fix it later this month. BTW Sewell Lexus service is great about picking up our cars for service at no charge (80 miles one way).

Is there a difference when dealing with the regulator between, holding pressure on the switch versus activating the automatic roll up and letting the motor run for the 30 revolutions? The car is at the shop now, I will see what codes they got and post tonight, thanks for everything

One more question. The seleniod functions fine until I have been driving for a while and come to a few stops and starts. If I get straight on the freeway in the morning, I dont have a issue with it until I exit freeway and start off at a lower speed. happens around 20mph. So, will a selenod function sometime and then not at other times or do they just fail all at once?

P0300/0301/0303/0305/0307/1346/1349
Like I told you I had the spark plugs changed on 12/04/2010, I cleared them with the code reader, and was driving around for a good hour, including some stops where the engine was off, they did not come back on
