the problem was the fuel
it fuel was getting to the fuel line but not through to the injectors because of the fuel pump regulator on the drivers side i accidentally switched the washers so no fuel was beign released
thanks a bunch
Check the gas cap to make sure its tight, if it comes back on you will either need a charcoal canister or vsv or maybe both
The check engine light came back on today, can I change those things myself or do I have to take it to the shop? Is there a way to check to see which one I will need? Thanks
TACH MOTOR . . . great posts. I recently changed the MAF, an AF sensor and the pcv valve and the CEL came back after about 50 miles. I smell exhaust/gas when thhe car is idling when the CEL is on. My gas mileage went in the tank . . . any suggestions?

If you have a smoke machine you can test it out that way; normally shops have that and to purchase a smoke tester is close to $1000. You can eliminate things by changing out the gas cap, vsv first. Charcoal canister is located under the rear subframe. You will need to drop the subframe enough to slide it out. Not a novice job.

Where can I locate the vsv? any pictures? and is that a dealer part or can I get it elsewhere
vsv is in the engine compartment, charcoal canister is in under the rear subframe. and its only a dealer part.
Ok, how long can I keep driving the car in this state if the problem is either the VSV or the Canister before I HAVE to change it? And what are the possible effects from continued driving with the Check light on?
