Member Help thread from a Lexus Certified Technician
Cool, glad to hear that. As for turbo there are a few companies that make it for the IS. SRT,XS Power. XS power is a good kit everything is asian made but people are easily making 400+ bolt on. SRT is more expensive and some parts are asian made but its a more complete kit, My best advise is to just do a full swap with an aristo motor. its practically plug and play. IF your not looking to go too crazy then just do the xs power kit and purchase the additional parts seperately i.e. - injectors, ems.
All this is highly debated on MY.Is forum. Pick the best one that suits your needs. My advise is you have more than 100k on the motor then do the swap and you will have a motor with 25-35K miles on it and it will be TT which will yield you a good 300-350hp.

Hey Tach Motor, I wanted to follow up on my previous questions: post#361 and my continuing problem. I took the car into a friends shop to get the work done. Torque Master plugs, new wires, dist. cap, rotor, MAF Sensor, Gates Racing timing belt, TB tensioner, TB idler pulley, serpentine belt, SB tensioner, ATI Super Damper, complete water pump, thermostat, silicone rad. hose & a Denso alternator.
I picked the car up this afternoon and had the same stalling problem and no idle on the way home. When at the shop the car was idling fine, when they test drove the car it was fine. We let the car idle for about 15 mins. before I began to drive it home. It was very smooth, then in traffic the idle started to drop and eventually it started stalling--back to gas-brake driving.
I will say that when I first took the intake off and checked the TB it was very clean, I don't know if the previous owner cleaned it when he installed the new intake, but I'm thinking he might have sprayed cleaner into the TB and hence the problem? I'm thinking that the Intake Air Control Valve might be bad? or need cleaning? To sound dumb, is there an Idle Air Control on this car? I looked tonight and didn't see anything that resembled the one on my 7M. Also what is the plunger arm between the Y intake pipe? Some type of valve actuator?
Thanks for any input, the car is going back to the shop tomorrow.

Fred,
The plunger valve in the intake manifold is for emissions purposes, if all that was clogged your car would not even start, The idle control motor may be off alignment, those you can adjust manually; You will need a meter to check out differences in voltage to adjust it. Have the shop check out the idle control motor and adjust it first. They should have a diagnostic scanner to check out how the car is operating. Keep us posted on your progress.

Tach Motor need your help, this has been going on for three months the right head light no longer swivel when you turn the steering wheel, its also pointing up about three inch's higher than than the left one. Also the head light on two occasion failed totally and was just wobbling around. Now the the dealer has changed headlamp assy 81126 -53240 they have changed the computer assy 89940, they change senor sub assy 89408-30130 and unit assy 81140-53240 that was this week on 6/2/10 and it failed once again. In total they have change the headlight assy three times, senor sub assy twice, replace height level senor three times, bulb twice, unit assy twice, they have had tech from Lexus come look at the car twice now and still no luck.
Back in May I told them i think its electrical issue they told me no it not but if you continue to have the same parts fail after they have been replaced with new within week or so to me it looks like either wiring or electrical issue. Then to top it off Tuesday night on my way to work smoke start to come from the front of car pull over and start looking to see were the smoke is coming from, I can find it source so I shut off car and turn off lights smoke stop. The next morning I drop off car at dealer now I'm pissed off they say Lexus will have engineer there to check my car today. This what the service manager said( the tech thought that my F-sport spring and sway bars may be the cause) I told him you got to be kidding me first off I had checked TSIB and there was not one for this issue two I had never seen or heard of any such issue with other owner of F-sport equipped IS350 or any Lexus for that matter that there thousand of Lexus with F-Sport spring and sway and this has never come up. Three I have had my spring on since I brought the car new back in Jan of 2009 and the problem began in late March of 2010, he stated that I had recently installed sway bars and I replied yes in May of 2010 nearly 2 month after this problem started.
Engineers from Lexus stated they have reset everything and have down load my data when the light fails again to bring the car in and they will then compare the data to see whats going on. When I asked them about the smoke situation they claim they found no burnt wires or any sign of something melting WTF.
Going to meet with service manager also requesting to meet with general manager I feel that this car would fall under CT Lemon Law which states
(Title 42 Charter743b section)
(e) it shall be presumed that a reasonable number of attemps have been undertaken to conform a motor vechicle to the applicable warranties, if
(1)the same nonconformity has been subject to repair four or more times by the manufacturer or authorized dealer during the period of two years following the date of original delivery of the motor vehicle to a consumer or during the first 18000 miles or which ever comes first.
It's been less than 2 yrs and i have 18200 mile on the car now. Any advice would be greatly appreicated sorry for the long post.

Wow!! long post and long story. Your problem is honestly beyond my scope over the internet however if the assemblies kept failing you may have a headlight ecm problem, wiring electrical problem. Dealerships only spend a certain amount of time on a car before the start calling field techs to have them look at it and they use every excuse under the sun to push the customer out saying your sways and/or springs are the cause. In this situation you are not running tanabe springs, or tein springs and are running genuine LEXUS F-Sport springs which have been "field tested" by lexus to ensure it will not interfere with any other components on the car.
Your next option if everything else fails is lemon law. Sorry its gotta come to that.
When on auto mode and maximum cool, it seems as if there's not as much air blowing as before. Vehicle has around 73K miles. All 3 fan speeds work fine on manual mode. Any ideas?
Auto mode works by the Interior air temp, IF you start your car on a hot day and leave it in auto mode it will blow out max speed and as the temp starts to drop the auto mode will start to slow the fan speed down.

I have a 92 sc300, problem I'm having is there is no interior lights, cruise, ac, passenger seat adjustment, tilt wheel. Think that's all of em. Anyways saw all those listed under the dome fuse (10 amp) in the manual. Well the fuse is fine and getting power. After that not sure where to go, seen integration relay issues so I tried that, no fix. Have you ever ran into this? Don't know where I should start next. Thanks a lot.
