Saw this on the news tonight. Over 100+ cars have had their wheels stolen since october in suffolk and nassau county... apparently these criminals are very good at what they do.

Just one more thing to worry about...

It looks like they are targeting more popular brands like Acura..The Type-S wheels on the TL in the picture might be worth money and is a easy sell...It is unlikey to target custom wheels..Custom wheels are only made to fit a few limited cars whereas, type-s wheels could accommadate many Honda/Acura models, thus easiler to sell..But then again, who knows what they want..Its hard to make a buck these days, this is the easy way out..Just my 2 cents..

I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood but just about a month ago the rims off a G35 were taken . . I am sure things are only going to get worse.

They would rip the side skirt off a slammed car and steal your wheels anyways.

As bad as this sounds, I am actually saving up the 200 some bucks for a set of volks wheel locks.

This has been happening for years.. In my n'hood(Fresh Meadows,Queens) there is so much wheel theft.. This one 04 Maxima on stock 18s have been stolen 3x, my friends 03 M45 18" Chromies where stolen, 06' M45 19's 2x, and just last week i saw a Mini Cooper S left on two bricks.. It lookd kinda funny actually.. I was gonna snap a pic but was runnin late for work..the 02-03 Maxima headlights and the 2nd Gen TL headlights where the worst for getting stolen.. Especially the Maxima 02-03! i know ppl that have had it done multiple times.. They bend the hood, bumper and fenders to get em.. Horrible.. U just cant have nothn nice in NY without a garage.. Sux

did Nissan fix the headlight issues though? thought they told the owners to go back to the dealer for some extra reinforcement or something.

In past few months i've seen g37(2x), Jeep SRT8, Escalades, TL typeS and new body Accords all on milkcrates(if lucky). And lately the new Maxima 19s are becoming a hotticket. Remember driving in BayRidge one morning and seeing about 5-6 cars with wheels gone off driver side....driving one block up ahead i see 6-7 cars now with wheels off a passenger sides. All kind of 'regular' cars - Accords, Avalons(!) etc... Oh the times we live in...

seeing as i have camry rims i dont think i have an issue, BUT all i know is that when i wanna take off a wheel from my car, i have to manually lift the car as much as i can to put my lowest jack under to put the larger jack under...

soo maybe one way to help you guys all out is to lower your car soo much taht they cant lift the car off the ground! (hint to get more of you to lower the cars on this forum)

and yes this does suck that people get their wheels stolen, (idk if this comment is inappropriate) im sorry if this offends anyone.

oh and im not sure who knows this but, they do sell wheel lock removers. its a reverse threaded (ID) socket and can easily remove wheel locks, i know this because i broke my wheel lock key. so i went out and bought this set for 20 bucks and i took my wheel locks off with no problem at all. my buddy with a VW GLI lost his wheel lock key, so we drilled out the center and used a comealong bit to remove the bolt(took about 10 mins) So im not too sure how reliable these wheel locks are or if the infinity guy is just trying to sell the locks but no matter what you have as a bolt on your wheel it can be removed.

just a heads up!
