Default IMPORTANT UPDATE,,,,,Winter Detail Event MD VA DC,,,POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

***************UPDATE: EVENT POSTPONED
SEE DETAILS IN THREAD
****************

Gauging interest in a winter detail event. I wanted to see if there was any interest in folks getting a final detail and coat of wax on their cars prior to winter setting in...I know I may be a bit late here but if there is enough interest I'll post a poll with available dates/times.

Location would be Ashburn, Va. I have a 2 bay garage and kerosene heater for the garage. Also, if folks have QUICK fixes they want to make before weather really turns bad this might be a good time for that as well.

BTW I will help with detail I wont be doing the detail for you. I have a Porter Cable DA thats dying to be broken in. I have never used it and if someone with experience wants to lend some guidance that would be much appreciated.

*****EDIT***** Rain Date will be 12/7/2008. I be will posting more information NEXT week for what I would like people to bring and what work you expect/hope to get done. For sure you will need to bring your own microfiber towels and you should get your car washed BEFORE you come. If that is totally impossible my water line should be on and not winterized yet for YOU to wash your car. Also, if you plan to clay bar you should bring your own claybar lubricant as well.

*******UPDATE*************

To all those who replied they would attend I need to know who is still coming that has detail experience and can demo the proper use of DA polisher and materials by COB today, 12/3. As I have said I am the host but not the expert, do folks think this is still beneficial without the demonstration and technical support? Would moving this to Sunday be better to accomodate the learning piece of this event?

12/4/2008 - EVENT POSTPONED TIL AFTER NEW YEAR. Asked for indication who would attend with detail skills and noone responded since a couple of my experts are not certain they could attend. This was meant to be a "class" of sorts with training and then hands-on. I will reschedule for after holidays giving everyone way more than enough notice to reserve the date for the event and ensure there are appropriate resources available.

ATTENDEES:
AliSC3 (maybe)
Howat
Mr2toSC4
8Speed
Amorphous (maybe)
02GGP IS
camelflage
RX469
Habious
2002GGPIS3
Trukn1 (maybe)
pakeeno
BossGS4
Racerlex
Horent135
montgb
GrandLS4

sounds like a great idea. My car has been collecting quite a bit of dust on jackstands...

Great idea, I'm down for something like that. I won't be detailing mine as the SC is still in the middle of the 90 day paint curing period. Would be a nice time to learn tho.

Ah I guess I'll lend a hand depending on when it is cause I do work some Saturdays. Anyone that needs a quick buff, I'll be there to help.

*Edit* Voted the sixth for only one reason, the later in Dec. it gets the colder it gets.

Well looks like 12/6 is the target so far for this event, pending any issues with weather. I have not scheduled a "rain/snow date", I am trying to remain a bit optimistic.

I have "some" supplies for this event and hoping Amorphous can do some demo's and provide his expertise here. I will try and get the Dunkin Donuts bucket of coffee and be back in time to start around 10am to give things chance to warm-up outside. I have a kerosene heater for the garage which keeps things toasty enough for wax to dry. If you have a special/preferred wax or product please feel free to bring it. Only thing we cant do is de-grease engine bays due to neighbors complaints last time I did this

Stay tuned for more details as the days progress.

Amorphus does very top notch work. He did a "field hookup" of my LS at Carlisle(07), before she went monotone. I will check my schedule, to see if I am available. Not to mention, the "old girl" is already starting to show her wintertime pains ($$$$). Have to make sure she will get down and back with no issues.
