Now, the stated goal, is to have over 100 cars, and to have one of the big buildings, I really don't think NELOC can do this alone, we need help from friends. I have gone to many meets and shows, and all the cars are connected on some way or another, so here it goes..

Invite Supras from Supraforums- one, many of them are Lexus owners anyway, and some are members of NELOC, also supra owners invite neloc to all there events. The supra is the pinnacle of Toyota, people love them, produce unlimted power, and the vast majorty are clean and classy i.e. no rice. I think Lexus and Supra complement each other.

Invite, some of the big VIP/ show car groups- again many NELOC members are parts of these groups anyway, I really liked the VIP car area last year, but they need to be with all the other NELOC cars. There are many new VIP groups, like gotham VIP, and yes, Lexus is big in the VIP scene, but all the VIP cars, like infinti's and maybe european vip style cars like benz's should be invited. another car group that has some VIP, but is a great show car group/vendor is D2 autosport, to have there cars, like seen in hot import nights, would be incredible, especially d2 girl's IS-F and gallardo! I would also invite team regiment zero, out of the mid atlantic, again having great and clean show cars.

Ok, one last group to invite and the big reason why, is I don't see them at all is to invite all acura NSX's. First, the most NSX's I have seen at a show this year is three at the maryland charity car show. I only saw one at carlisle last year, and two recently at the fort hunt meet. I really think the NSX drivers will come out, the majorty of them from NSX prime, if they are gurranteed parking in a closed in building, a class atmosphere and away from anything ricey, a NSX showcase . Just imagine if ten of them showed up?, and what the reaction will be. Yes we love our Lexus, but 99% will trade for a NSX. So I think if all this will happen, we will have the big building and over 100 cars in there that people will talk about for years.. I know big dream.

Lastly, one quick idea, NICO club had the track, last year, so I was thinking on one of the slower days, maybe on friday, get some small track time. so NELOC rents a mustang or some other rental car and in this car each person who wants to gets a run or two on a autocross course to see who is the best driver, competing for the best time, I think it would be fun!!

so what do you guy's think?
Ryan I think all would agree that your ideas have merit in that having people from all of these other forums would be good for the show and give us something else to look at versus the same old Honda stuff. I'm sure the guys from Supra Forums would def come out is some fashion and take part in the show as several of them come into the NELOC section for meet information.

But the goal here is what can we (NELOC) do to make this years show better for us as a club and not so much making a better show by inviting none Lexus car groups. Though the shows promoter did make a commit last year about us bringing 100 cars for the 2009 show it was pretty clear that he was joking about that number. The focus here one should be how can we make ourselves more presentable to others attending the show. Two what things can we do such as the idea of having a DJ to make the area more enjoyable for us. Remember we have our own space on the fairgrounds (pavilion and surrounding area) and I for one believe we have more than earned keeping it for ourselves after our large scale attendance for the past two years. So if we invite other groups we have to be prepared that they could very well show up in larger numbers based on numbers of those registered before the show. If that happens the promoters can very well give them our spot. Though the show's promoter did inform me that we have the pavilion this year, nothing is set is stone and could (however unlikely) change.

Don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean the idea of inviting other forums is out. In fact as Tony has stated this is not a NELOC only event. We have always extended invites to others Lexus forums and clubs, and will do the same again this year for those groups (ISFanatics, my.IS, Lexotic Concepts, Northeast Forum) when we go into planning the actual event. At this point I think it would be best that we get things on our end organized first (after the January 1st just as last year) as well making sure the pavilion and surrounding area is 100% secured as ours again (I'll be handling this part) before we get into inviting none Lexus groups. After meeting with Carlisle events staff at SEMA this year nothing other than a date for this years Style & Performance show is set in stone. So no negotiations will be taking place until after the new year at this point.

Yes there are food and drinks there. They have concession stands. You can bring drinks, but food and cooking food is prohibited.

I spoke with my good friend DJ. Ran, and he said he usually charges $150 per hour, but he'll do us a favor and give us a generous discount. Let me know how long we would be needing him for the event, and I'll get a price.

general discount huh? uh.... no thanks... a car show event for the main day is from 9am-7pm ish $1500 for the day?

I know DJ prices and 150 an hour?

let's just put it this way... He's no DJ Clue or funkflex...

we don't need someone to get people on the dance floor... we just need someone to play music so WE won't be bored

OK,, I think this thread is getting a lil out of hand. All of the ideas submitted are very good ones, and due to your efforts, I have an extended idea of some things that Leroy and I can try to incorporate into our area when we get into the actual planing stages for Carlisle 09.

Here is one thing that I think is getting lost as this thread goes on. One idea was to invite different groups to the event. Let us keep in mind that THIS EVENT IS NOT a NELOC SPONSORED ONLY EVENT. The individual car groups, as well as various other enthusiast groups are more than welcome to attend, as long as they register themselves. It will be fine to mention the Carlisle Style and Performance show in their forums, and see if you can generate some interest from them to attend as a group on their own individual merits. This will only add to the overall variety of the show itself. This thread, as Leroy has also reiterated, is how does NELOC improve upon the area which has been designated to us, as well as make it enjoyable for OUR GROUP. I am aware that NELOC is comprised of many different groups (IS.Net,,ISFANATICS, LEXOTIC,,etc) and I have no problem with this, and those open invites to those groups will continue to stand. We are pretty much looking for some different things to include with our area, so that you (as a participant) don't feel like the 2+ hour drive to get to Carlisle was a complete waste of time. We really want our group to enjoy themselves. The area which has been designated to us in the past, as well as what we hope to continue to utilize, is sooo important to me for several reasons.

1. Because of the various locations of the different NELOC branches (MD, NOVA, NJ,PA,DE,NY, CT, etc), this location (Carlisle) has been used by us to not only showcase the fact that a LEXUS community can/does exist; but it also serves as a VERY RARE opportunity for members of just about all areas to finally put faces to screen names, re-unite with old friends, meet new peeps, etc. Honestly, there are only a few "TRUE ROAD WARRIORS" who will travel between states at a moments notice for meets, BBQ's etc., this is a very rare oportunity to get most of the active NELOC community in one place at one time.

2. The open pavillion area, which we have been utilizing, allows for those of you who only come down for that Saturday to come and go at will. This way, NO ONE is OBLIGATED to have to stay the entire weekend. The enclosed bldgs (VIP HALL 08, bldg C, etc) have a few stipulations which do not work for a majority of the members here.

a. The vehicles in these bldgs are obligated to appear for all 3 days of the
event.
b. Once these vehicles are inside, that is where they stay (NO MOVING THEM) until the show ends (normally around 10 pm)
c. These vehicles are REQUIRED to be in place at the very crack of dawn
b4 the show opens for the day.

I do believe the WE, NELOC, has earned the right to showcase our cars as the group of Lexus enthusiast that we are. This is what makes our area soo unique, 40,50+ Lexus cars of all different models, all in one place, all at one time. The amount of traffic which come thru our area, as some of you already know, is always a very big success. While we do not discourage the invite of other car makes/models to join our area (on the outer rim) the pavillion is for NELOC (North East Lexus Owners Club).

Thanks all of you who have submitted ideas to this thread thus far. Until we (LEROY and Myself) have more details set in stone about the Carlisle event, nothing is set in stone yet. The purpose of this thread was to help me think "outside the box" a little, and due to some of your ideas, I am now able to do so a lil more. This thread will be temp. locked so that we can sort out some bargaining chips, visualize setup, etc. For the time being, I don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, since at this time, I am still working with nothing in stone. I will, however, re-open this thread at a later date as I will then have a more solid foundation of what we have to work with, and what the promoters stipulations are.

Each year,, we continue to grow as a group. While 100 cars at Carlisle 09 would be a VERY GOOD thing to accomplish as the NELOC group, the point is to get as many of you who feel you can attend to do so. Think of it as one big family reunion, in which you are all invited. We came 39 strong in 07,, and close to 60 strong in 08. I would LOVE to watch the numbers grow in 09, but at a minimum, I would like to continue the high trend in which we have already established for ourselves.
