Default Where in MOCO MD to get tires installed?

Okay so being relatively new still to MD I don't know where to take my wheels and tires to have them mounted. They are 19s and the rears are 265/30s and front are 235/35s. In Michigan I used to go to a place that had plastic pieces on their machines to be sure that they didn't scratch the lips and were able to get on very low profile tires.

I live in Germantown so would like to find somewhere relatively close but if not I would rather have it done right. This and a power steering fluid reservoir and my 1jz sc300 will be rollin around thanks to Matt S and all his help. Too bad his 1.5jz sc300 will still whoop me

Not sure if Montgomery or PG County but Radial Tire is my shop they are in Silver Spring I believe. It doesnt look like much but their prices are VERY reasonable and service is unbelieveable in fact if your not there at a reasonable hour forget getting the car finished. They work on everything from Ferrari's to Ford's and bunch of race cars but again they ONLY do tires.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the above help, I will contact both places and see what works. Silver Spring is Montgomery County and is only maybe 10 minutes from my work. Thank you guys for the help, I just want to be sure that my tires are put on properly and my rims aren't messed up in the process....I have dealt with that before and it was HELL to get reimbursed for the damage they did to the lips of my wheels.

Wow Mark, you drive all the way to Silver Spring to these guys for your tire work? That says something about their service! That's a haul from your place.

Hey Greg - yeah they are GREAT they actually worked with me at getting a refund on some Bridgetones that basically disintegrated and they didnt even sell me the tires and the tires were used when I bought them. They got me enough to offset the cost on a set of new Toyo's and the ride is a ton better. Thats the kind of service I look for. They won my business after that and some other deals they worked with me.

Jefferino - my rims are spun aluminum lip and VERY soft and had same concern u had...and they take extra precaution on ALL rims and you can even watch them do the work. The rims came out "unharmed" they even reshaped them after meeting a pothole one winter at NO CHARGE.

Wow thank you guys so much! My stupid tires didn't come in today so I will have to find them this week. Any of you know the hours? I called today and only found out that due to the holiday weekend they were closing at 1pm.

I can't wait to get my wheels/tires on so I can break in my new clutch for 500 miles and enjoy the beauty of the 1jz that SlowSC3 helped me drop in earlier this week!

The thing with Radial tire is that you got to go there around 730 in the morning and wait in line before it opens. Theres usually already a line there depending on what day you go. I've always gone at 730 and my tires were done within 1 hour.

when i had my rear tires put on my car last year at radial tire, there was a lambo there having tires installed. I figure that it is a good place to go if someone takes a 100,000 + car there to have tires put on.

I know this thread's a few years old but I thought I would chime in with a recent experience. I had been going to Radial Tire since I bought my '08 IS 350. It was a friend of mine who first told me about it. I got my Blizzak winter tires from them in late '09 and we've mounted them off and on two times now putting my summers back on.

But in May of this year, I bought new Hankook tires where both rears were defective. The drive was rough and I brought the car back a week later and they told me that the mounting was a little off and they adjusted. But it was still shaky and a month later I Brought the car back again and this time they took a closer look. There was an issue with the rear tire (also w/ two bent rims).

I e-mailed Gripston and they told me to go to a place which had the Hunter GSP9700. I used their site to found a place near me which had one. I visited Ye Olde Wheel Shop and watched how they used the machine to figure out whether the problem was the tire or the rim. It threw out right away what the problem was. We learned for sure that both rear tires were bad and my front right rim was bad.

I think for sure a place with this machine would have caught the trouble and that's where I want to try and go from now on. Especially a place where I can hang out and wath the tires being put on too.

So with my blizzak tires where there were no issues because everything was fine with the tires. But in the event you have problematic tires or something else, for me at least this whole experience was trouble.

^ yeah that's the killer. $45 a tire to mount/balance is pricey. Ideally I would like to find a place where I could purchase tires, mount and balance, and get alignment done at the same place. Going to different places/methods to do different things is annoying. I'm dealing with Pull right now which may be related to the tires or may be related to alignment.

a shop named auto tech car care in bowie md has been my shop of choice for alignments for the last year. they have the newest and most high tech equipment, they do it in like an hour or less, they handle slammed cars very well, they have a nice *** waiting area with some comfy chairs and snacks and hd tele, and they charge like $90. my friend turned me on to them last year and we've both been back since. they will give you a full print out and adjust it to your liking or as close to stock as they can get. (not open on weekends though unfortunately).

^ maybe I'll give them a shot. I'd really like a place more on the enthusiast and customer service side though. I want someone to drive my car beforehand, feel what I'm complaining about, attempt to fix it and then drive again to see if its' gone. And I'd like someone who'll drive it hard like I normally do, not a quick few minute ride on a local road.
