First and foremost, I give you much respect for sharing something that's personal to you with all of us. I had no idea you had this dissability. I met you at the meet in Flushing Park in Queens (I was the one with one chrome 20 and 3 alloy 18's lol). You were mad cool and shame on anybody for making fun of you. That's just wrong. Keep ya head up dog

OK, a bit late to posting but meant to for some time.

First off, you are to be commended about mentioning your autism. It is such a broad disorder and even with all of the in-the-face information lately the vast majority of the population remains ignorant on the subject.

Though never diagnosed Bill Gates is very well known to have Aspergers which is on the autistic spectrum, another notable would be Einstein.
A great many children who end up on the spectrum go on to become doctors, professors, teachers, etc and even the best doctors would have great difficulty to even diagnose them in their adult years. Of course the opposite is also true.

The sad facts are that many of you 16-20 years on this site reading this will have a child on the autistic spectrum from either mild to severe. The reasons and debate vary widely but the indisputable truth is that it is an epidemic that is only growing each and every year with no sign of a letting up and before someone claims that most of this is due to better diagnoses conduct some research on your own-that only goes a small way in explaining the huge jump.

1 in 150 newborns are impacted today with autism and several sources indicate that this will increase to 1 in 100 within 5-10 years. That is simply staggering and though awareness has increased exponentially the last few years we have a long way to go in research and development to get to the cause(s) of this condition. So before someone tries to make light of autism keep in mind that you may very well find yourself in the same situation this year or years to come.

Furthermore autism is very much treatable and completely reversible if caught very early and depending on the severity. Mainstream doctors I have found are absolutely clueless how to treat this disorder and a search on goo autism websites (autismspeaks not being one of them) will yield some good quality doctors that can really assist the patient.

I never had any problems understanding your posts . I also respect you for coming out and sharing this with us. I have a son with autism so I show no ignorance at all to this.

Far from being an expert myself though very much familiar with autism it does sound as if you are a bit unique on the spectrum. Curious, have you tried special diets?
Are you seeing a doctor that specializes in autism? Or a main stream doctor?
thanks for sharing, hand in there buddy.

I'm sorry if you ever felt like someone was making fun of you but I'm sure no one truly meant it to be harmful. The saying around here is you come for the cars and stay for the people hopefully we'll all get the chance to show how true that meaning it is...
