Default THOUGHTS...Black Chrome Badging on SC400?

I am NOT asking how to do this or if I can buy the badges or if they were available those topics were beaten to death elsewhere...

Been contemplating converting my chrome badges on my SC to "black chrome". The SC400 is 92 and Pearl White. My dilemma is that the other trim pieces on the car including the exhaust tips are polished chrome and not sure it would look right. I know I can't "buy" the black chrome badges anymore so the plan is to buy some badges and try my hand at "refinishing them" using some black pearl paint I plan on purchasing. I found some DIY's in CL for this.

So the questions is...should I convert my chrome badging to black chrome?...What are some thoughts how it would look given all other trim is polished chrome?

Thanks in advance.

My opinion, no I wouldn't only because I like a clean, unified look. If your trim pieces and exhaust tip are polished chrome capitalize on that and stick with chrome badges. What would be hot is color matching your badges to the Pearl White. I could see that The contrast of the Pearl White and black chrome would be too stark. But if you like it, rock it

I think black pearl will look good, but Tara's color matching idea sounds pretty interesting.

it'll have a nice contrast. you shouldn't really worry about your exhaust tips being polish. it's not going to throw it off... i think it will look good.

If your gonna do it you might want to figure out a way to make your trim black as well.

Thanks all for opinions...Ok i am convinced and will take the plunge. Now to find a set of emblems I can experiment on...hmmm

Licelsior - is urs an Anniversary Edition LS? Color looks right but pics can be deceiving. Also what color did u use to paint your emblems? I was gonna order the paint online now but if I can find it locallly at a chain store would rather do that.

mine was gold emblems before but painted them black...got a can of black paint from pepboys for 5 bucks. and with the LS400 emblem i picked it up off a guy on here and the gold was in such good condition that i decided to do something cool with it and sprayed it black and just used a xacto knife to carve out the letters.
heres what i did close up..

closer pic of the black i guess..

If you would like to just do the Lexus "L" check out this site, you can get them in the black pearl and just get rid of all the other badging.

Ok. The Anniv Edition had embroidered mats, special sliverish/white pearl paint and special wheels. All cosmetic. Was just askin cuz I used to have one and loved the color combo it had the wheels that were close in color to the paint. I REALLY miss that car.
