Hey guys, looks like I am dead set on sending over my car.. Fixed all three a/c actuators to get the heat goin, changed out the ball joints, tranny flush, fixed curb rashes, put too much time, money, blood, and sweat into the car to let it sit in a garage back home.. I need some advice from you folks..
How is driving a car on rims when there is salt on the road?
Do you know of any garage's or public storage areas where I can leave the car during the week so I can use it on the weekends thats reasonably priced? I wanna convoy with you guys but I have no need for a car during the week.
Do you guys know of any good detailers around the area that clay, interior, exterior wash, polish rims, etc.. hand wash.. ?
figured Id start by these and when my baby arrives, I can roll in a clean ride..
trying to justify 2200 for shipping my baby up or just selling it at home..
but as for detailers, check out autopia and do a search or make a new thread about local detail fanatics that will take ur car and cleanse it and really make it worth your while.
I'm not from MD or washington area, but as far the rims, I opted to take the chrome off for the winter unless you are willing to clean them on a regular basis to avoid having salt on them and trust me they will be getting salt. Hope that helps a bit, and hopefully you can make it out to Carlisle and meet most of the NELOC gang.

Thanks guys in advance,

There will be no issue with the salt on the road for several reasons.
1. We are having a very mild winter here. I think that it only snowed twice so far.
2. I cannot imagine that you will drive the car when there will be snow and salt on the road to harm the wheels.
There should be some parking provided by your apartment complex. If not you may be able to get a public storage space. www.publicstorage.com
With the except of myself we as a group wash our cars religiously. I am sure that one of us knows a good detail spot and would be able to provide recommendations to you.
Just get the car here, you will not regret it one bit. We have a great time every time we get together. The Christmas Party that you came to was very mild for us, we normally have much more going on.
Well if you get an indoor garage you should be fine. After it snows you could just wait until they clean the streets before driving because it sounds like your not going to use it as your daily driver. I say go for it if you have the money why not.
AWESOME!! Thanks guys for the immediate reply!! I can't wait till I get to roll with you guys. everything will be final at the end of the month and I look forward to having my baby make friends with all of yours'!!! As far as the Christmas party, I had a great time and it was good to hang out with people that are genuine and kind. Only sad part was that I didn't get to see Smitty in a santa outfit but other than that, its coming over!!
btw, anyone wants to buy a monoblock diamond audio 600.1 amp? I brought it over just in case for no reason except that I wanted to make my flight miserable by carrying that heavy thing on... Just thought I would let you guys know theres one in the area.
I definitely would either clean my wheels alot in the salt or just not drive until the roads clear. As far as detailers we have a few members who are pretty good and if not there are a few in the local area. I would check them out throughly first though.
Albert, as Bernie says, I can't imagine you driving your GS in the snow here with all of the work that you have put into your baby. And since you say that you do not need to drive it everyday, then I wouldnt. Too beautiful to mess up. The salt here can be very corrosive to chrome wheels, and unless you are willing to wash them RELIGIOUSLY EVERYDAY to clear them of the salt, then I would just revert to winter wheels until the weather warms up. I rock my chromes all year round, but my wheels arent as nice as yours, so I can afford to be a little careless with them(cheap wheels). I hdo have 1 wheel where the chrome is starting to bubble on my center cap due to salt contact. Just a little foor for thought.
