Default Mechanic Recommendation in NY

Does anyone have any recommendation on a mechanic shop in the NY area - preferrable Queens to have their GS worked on. I am trying to find a place that will change the spark plugs plus all the 60K service done. I went to the dealer and they said it was going to run up to $1095. Is that the right amount?

Anybody know any good mechanic shops that will do the same job at a cheaper price? Im not looking for a ***** job. Maybe somewhere that will do as good as a job as lexus but not for the over priced amount.

Thanks in advance.
Dave

You could try my friends shop. They are very experience and one quit being a nissan tech to open the shop. Tell them Travis sent you. If you want give me a call at 917-282-7778 to see what exactly you want to do and I'll get a quote for you.

Dave,

We've got a local shop in Jamaica that's worked on a few of our cars (including a turbo'ed GS300) with excellent results. You can swing by and talk to them directly about what you want done and see if they are to your liking.

I am looking to get the 60k service done on my car except for the basics : oil change and rotate tires.

Im not sure what 60K service intales. I know the lexus service rep said I would def need to change my spark plugs.

alot of that stuff you can do yourself. I sent you a PM with the info about the shop.

But I would print out what the entire service entails (I'm not sure, but I can't see it being much beside basic maintenance (flush this, flush that, etc), figure out what you can do yourself (this site is a great DIY tutorial - Spark plugs are simple on a 430 though, I did mine in about an hour) and figure out what you would want them to do. Then buy the parts from one of the vendors here and supply them with your own parts.

Edit:
Here is the service list

60,000 Miles or 48 Months
Dealer Service Verification
Date: _____________________
Mileage: _________________

❏ Replace differential oil (IS 3005) ❏ Rotate tires

Additional Maintenance Items for Special Operating Conditions:1
❏ Inspect nuts and bolts on ❏ Replace differential oil7
chassis and body ❏ Replace transmission fluid7

I don't think you need a mechanic, just a trustworthy lube shop

Thanks. I did not get the chance to stop by the shop this past weekend. I will try to stop by this coming weekend if the snow doesn't start pouring in.

If you don't want to pay Lexus service money, you can also take your GS to a Toyota dealer. There are some Lexus certified mechanics at Star Toyota in Bayside.. The prices on the 60k service and other intervals are significantly less than Lexus. I have a contact person there if you are interested. Just giving you an alternative.. Good luck.
