Default Input needed on GS purchase

hey guys i should be meeting a seller of a gs4 on friday. given that nothing major is wrong with the car i'll def be picking it up. the car has some hideous chrome dubs on it and he does not have stock wheels for the car anymore. i need some suggestions on what to do if i can work out a lower price with him and not take the wheels. the only thing i can think of is throw my stock multi spoke sc wheels (very little tread) on and drive it home and wait to buy new wheels? thanks in advance

That depends on how far you have to drive. If its not far then you should be fine with the stock sc wheels.

Definitely try to get him to take the wheels off your hand and lower the price. Why pay more money for something you don't want and then your stuck with trying to unload them on someone else. Good luck and keep us updated.

the drive back wont be far, from brooklyn to queens...i'm guessing the best thing to do is swap the wheels at a mechanic's garage or at a gas station near his house

i've checked the classifieds already but is there anyone else locally selling stock gs wheels (preferably 5spoke)?

You should be more concerned with the mechanical well being of the vehicle more so than wheels. You can always get 5 spokes on EBay for cheap. What is the mileage of the car? Not trying to discourage you, but with mileage comes repairs and replacement parts $$$ Save some cash for that.

Have you checked the classifieds here? If you and ou didn't have any luck check craigslist. There are always wheels there locally.

Have you seen the car and checked it out mechanically?

i've been lookin for a gs for quite some time and with the cars that i have looked at, i've either had the seller meet me at my mechanic's or had a mechanic go with me. the car has roughly 100k and he says that the car needs nothing but i'm well aware of how that usually turns out....from the forums i've read to check vin stickers on the panels and i'll be looking at all the maintanence records for timing belt, pumps, rotors, brakes etc.

well its good to see your an educated buyer. Like its been said, the wheels are the least of your problem but it would be nice if you werent stuck with them and got the price lowered. Check under the dash and elsewhere for sloppy wiring if it has an aftermarket alarm/audio system. You dont want to have to start replacing wiring harnesses if they chewed some ish up. Check the brakes for pad life, suspension for squeaks and rattles and DEFINATELY CHECK the underbody as a whole for excessive rust. We get very salty roads in the winter so beware of the underbody rusting out.

How is the leather/interior as a whole?

Does the guy your goign to meet have all records on hand and was the vehicle serviced at a lexus dealership? If so contact the dealership for a printout of all records pertaining to the vehicle. Also check carfax for possible wrecks he didnt tell you about.

IM done for now.
