Default Which wheels do you like?

I’m in somewhat of a dilemma, I have what I believe are the standard wheels for the 06 SC, but I’m contemplating switching them out for what I believe are the Pebble Beach wheels. I found a very good deal on a set of almost brand new wheels and tires.

In the photos below, the Pebble Beach are on top and the stock wheels on the bottom. I think the stock wheels look better with the top down because they somewhat match the camel interior, on the other hand, the Pebble Beach wheels look great and match the silver of the exterior. I like Jerry Baumchen believe that for the most part chrome wheels look best on darker colored cars vs. lighter colored cars. Every now and then there is a rule breaker and the chrome wheels do look good on a light color.

Anyway, I would appreciate opinions of the wheels below, do you like the PB’s or Stock.

Hi six,

Well, you are asking.

Actually, I have the '06 wheels on my '02 and like them. I also prefer them to the PB's in your photo.

I think that's where I'm going to end up. Meaing I'll keep the wheels that I have (I like them also), but if I can get a great deal on the PB's I may purchase them also. In other words, if I can purchase the PB wheels that have almost new tires on them for the price of about what it would cost me for tires alone, why not.

Just remember that if/when you change out the wheels, that you will have to have the dealer train your TPMS system to the new sensors.

The car is set up to handle two sets of sensors to allow the folks up north to have snow tires. There is a switch in the glove box that you use to switch between the two sets.

Hi Harold,

First, I am a very strong believer in doing what one wants to do.

That is why I removed the TPMS devices & disconnected the two connectors in the center tunnel when I put the '06 wheels on my car.

I've been driving since 1955 & haven't needed any TPMS devices so far.

PS) My dad's name was Harold.

PB looks better.

The 5 spoke wheels looks complicated to me (don't know why but they do)

I like the PB Wheels. To me, the Lexus options wheels (Tourmalines, G-Spiders, ISP Mode, and now the PB Edition Wheels) all look better on the Lexus SC than any of the "original" wheels that come on the vehicle. I currently have the 15-spoke Lexus ISP Mode wheels on my SC and love it. Gives it a much more 'updated' look.

Yes, there are several folks that have them disconnected. I prefer to leave them connected just because it lends me a peace of mind. That was even more true when I still had the run flat tires because you can't tell by just looking at them if the tires are low and the car is never located in a convenient position to check them when I think about it.

The PB,s are hot! They give the care the aggression that it deserves. However, if you are not into the aggressive look, then the stock are for you.

I really don't understand that. I'm the one that sold JerryB his 06 wheels for the 02 and when I put the new wheels on (not at a dealer) I know they just transferred the sensors. Why would you have to train the TPMS when you change wheels?
