which state breeds the worst...
Ny taxi drivers are the worst drivers!!!! But as far as state I'll say Georgia (Atlanta) Theres always an accident on 75/85 every morning which = traffic for a 7-8 land hwy. lol Oh dont let it snow or rain in atl, they still gonna drive 80mph and the limit is 55mph
Truckers are not innocent of driving like idiots. Those who do the PA I-76 and I-78 are very aggressive and don't give a **** about the car drivers they share the road with. Whether its riding the *** of the car in front or just cutting people off (i've had to slam on my brakes every now and then).
1. trucks are heavily loaded vehicles, with the capacity to travel at great speeds.
2. trucks ( especially on hills, mtn, etc.) depend on the laws of motion and sometimes gravity in order to keep them moving at a decent pace so we dont inconvenience you for looonnnggg periods of time trying to get out of the way or climb hills.
3. EVERYONE wants the goods and products that trucks bring, yet no-one wants to bother with them.
4. The general public is highly unskilled and uninformed about how to safely drive with trucks on the road.
Having said that, again, I agree that there are some truly &*^hole drivers behind the wheels of some of these trucks. It is unfair to characterize the whole industry based on the stupid actions of a few. Now, addressing your comment about us not caring about people we share the road with. How many times have you seen a truck change lanes in order to let someone onto the highway?? In just about all states, it is the law for commercial vehicles to change lanes if an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road,, lights flashing or not!! How many times have you had to slow down b/c 2 or 3 trucks are riding side by side with the hazards on slowing traffic. What you don't see, until the last minute is that road/lane closure, accident, or just traffic coming to a sudden stop. We control the traffic in order to make you see us so you don't run the risk of slamming into someone after you realize, at the last minute, what is going on. We are big targets and most of the time our actions can be seen more clearly than the writing on a small sign. Think about it,, how often doyou pay attention to EVERY little road sign you pass on the road??? For us, it is essential so we can make decisions early, b/c last minute decisions in a truck can be deadly!!!
Yes there are truckers who tailgate people, and I don't condone this at all. It is really stupid to do so, but I guess it is alright for you to tailgate me going down the road just to save a little gas by sharing in my wind draft so your car doesnt have to work as hard right?? Let me guess, b/c the trailer is such a big target and the light are right at your eye level then it is ok,,right??
My point is there is soooo much you just cannot comprehend, as it relates to operating one of these vehicles. I am not trying to call you dumb or anything like that but until you get behind the wheel of one of these vehicles, I can preach until I am blue in the face, and you will still disagree with me. It is only when you get into one of these trucks, whether behind the wheel or just in the passenger seat, will you truly start to evaluate the stupid things that people in cars do and realize that we don't have it easy and we play the preventative game more often than not. I invite not only you, but anyone who is interested, to do a ride along with me for the period of 1 week and I GUARANTEEthat when you return home, you will re-evaluate your own driving habits and change quite a few things you may do without knowing it now. I used to think just like you, until I placed myself in position to drive these trucks and now some people say I drive like Grandma Moses!! (LOL!!) I truly questioned and changed my own driving habits quickly after I found out what was involved here. My comment on flashing the lights was simply to say that at night it is not necessry to flash lights. Anyone who cannot see headlights in the mirrors just doesnt need to be on the road, or they are just being unfriendly(trying to keep the language clean). On a car, the high beams are spread across the entire cabin of the vehicle, on a truck, that beam flashes ONLY on the mirror and is intensified. Yes you are blinding me.
Trucking safety is at it's all time highest in over 40 straight years so I would emplore you to do some more research into the subject matter. The latest FEDERAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION study has found that most accidents invloving car/truck was a direct result of the cars' actions in having started the initial cause. Unfortunately, you cant stop 80K on a dime. Yes, there is corruption and bad people in all fields, but please broaden your thinking and vision a little more than what it is now. You need paper info. for facts, let me know. I will be more than happy to assist you in your research.
1LoudLX, I truly apologize for this thread jack, but I know you can truly apppreciate what is truly being said here. I really hate it, when people try to make us look bad and not examine ALL of the facts. I respect the opinion given, but please people,,THINK!!!!!
(Steps down and puts soapbox away)

ill have to hand it to truckers...they DO move to the middle lane when they see flashing lights, like when im on the shoulder with my strobes on helping someone. Trucks are a great warning to the road ahead because of the large communication network you guys have setup, but some times ya'll got some wreckless guys out there...then again its the same with cars.
How long did it take you to write this extremely long thread-jacking? ha
As a side note, i saw a tractor the other day with amber lights shining on the ground below it...looked pretty sick! Also just saw a Busch Grand National Series race hauler tonight, the Whelen 31 on I-95 south in NY...i was excited cuz im a nascar fan
AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO VOTE FOR VIRGINA! lol. Damn you guys are starting to not like us new yorkers as much as Dirty Jerz! UhOH!!!

Lets just all be considerate to each other on the road.
For the record I consider these to be the worst in NYC:
1) yellow cab drivers
2) delivery trucks
3) people who don't use turn signals (IDIOTS!!!!!) especially in NYC where you have to make split second decisions because of the traffic and tight streets here.

I would routinely get moving violations for taking left's from the right lane and driving on the shoulder. I would cut someone off and slam my brakes trying to cause an accident on if they had a problem with it.
I mean I was seriously bad and there were plenty of other out there. I am glad I had quite a few friends in blue that got me out of a LOT of trouble.
Living and driving in NY for 5 years and now NJ for 1, I must attest that NJ drivers are far nicer than the m*******s. I am much much calmer now and I still get frequent road rage around here but nobody screws around. They just move over...
My wife was born and raised in Jersey and frequently drove into the city and down the shore. She also attests that mass drivers are worse...
