Time for someone to enjoy this car. In the past 10 months I had it , I put in so few miles. I was and still am tempted to build a high hp SC out of it just like my other SCs but it will be a pity to tear a part a damn near immaculate SC300 so I might as well let it go before I do that.  I actually bought already a lot of the performance parts but will instead put them on another 1996 SC300 that is still all stock , boost and keep that. When you have a good number of boosted cars like SCs and MKIVs , you get bored driving a stock one that is why I never put any mileage after I have worked on this one. It has never seen rain or ran on wet roads  with me that is why wheels / tires are still like brand new and as though they have just been installed.

I will let my build thread do the talking to describe this car . Start reading from post # 4509 of page 301, Everything is well documented from the day it was delivered to me and some valuable informations when my buddy Brandon acquired it. You will find its complete auto-check history report too . It was literally garaged and never got out of that garage from 2002 - 2020. That is a long 18 years of being kept literally inside a garage which means it was only on the road for 5 years (1997-2002) . Nothing to hide about this car so please go through the thread well so there are no misunderstandings and you will have a good idea of what you are buying. On the build thread , I said , I will include an extra engine and transmission , I will for an added cost since its value I believe is more than what I am asking for.

I posted this car on Cargurus for $25k just so I don't deal with tire kickers or people wasting my time. But I was just looking for someone who is really serious just like many here on clublexus whom we see paying a pretty penny for them. Check out bringatrailer dot com . Search for sold SC300 especially those with manual transmissions, clean ones are fetching a pretty penny. You will be surprised how some people who are not even Internet or Social Media savvy pay for them , even saw one for $19k

Will sell for $12.5k . Look , this is not about the money.  If it was , I can just store this in a barn down South , enjoy it every now and then while it appreciates then sell it after 25 or when it is 50 years old . Instead someone can enjoy this car now better than I will. Not because you have that amount , I will sell it to you. This was offered to me by a good friend here knowing that I love these cars and it will get the care and attention it deserved and it sure did . You might have $100k , but you probably won't find another one of these in this condition if truly you love and are after one of these cars. Only those who have seen this car in person so far , will truly appreciate its condition. I am not just gonna sell it to anyone who shows me the cash. SC lovers / fanatics who are  or have been active members of this forum  or of supraforums , since they are the ones I frequented most in the past 15 years , will be my preferred buyers since they will more likely take care of it. Though of course I know , can't control anything once it is out of my sight and it is not mine anymore  .

Disclosure : Stuff that needs to be to looked and worked on :

a) waiting for summer to find out the problem on the AC .. .not getting cold. I did put freon , got cold then freon disappeared not even an hour after. I will guarantee the compressor and hvac system inside the car to be fully functioning though.  (RESOLVED I believe)

Note :

As of 05/13/21 I believe I found where it was leaking freon. It was in one of the o-rings on the AC Pipe at the bottom where it goes to the AC drier / AC condenser. I have tightened the two bolts ... loaded it with freon and now it blows ICE cold air . Are there still freon leaks, only time will tell. All I can say is new owner will bring it home with a cold blowing AC System when he leaves my place.

As of 05/14/21 after more than 36 hours , AC is still blowing ICE cold air so hopefully there are no more freon leaks.


b) Driving it yesterday around town , after the drive I noticed the big banjo  bolt under the power steering reservoir was leaking fluid . (RESOLVED)

Note : as of 05/12/21 - I have replaced  the complete PS pump and reservoir . I don't see anymore leaks.


c) need to get the hand brake cable inspected and worked on for it to hold. (RESOLVED)

Note : as of 5/13/21 - Found the problem... The clamp that hold the cable under the car is broken so I did install a bolt and nut to hold the cable in place and works good for now . I have adjusted the hand brake cable to hold the car in place .



It is not a perfect car but it will be tough to find another 1997 SC300 5 speed in this condition since there were only 120 of them according to Lexus (brochures) . Will I hesitate to drive it right now from GA to CA or even WA ... a BIG FAT NO  .  But again even brand new cars fail on the road so I am not giving any guarantee and be in trouble if something unfortunate happens along the drive . Is the Check Engine Light (MIL) on the dash or any dash lights lit  that indicates any malfunctions ? ... a BIG FAT NO  as of today , lmaol !
