Before you hop on a plane you should take into consideration the following points. My mechanic thought the car had a head gasket leak that would cost $4800 to fix. I decided to get another opinion and that highly recommended mechanic said the leaks come from the cam seals and transmission return line, with the major problem and cost being the cam seals. He didn't quote me a price on the cam seals replacement, as he said he doesn't have the tools to fix it. So, taken into consideration the second mechanic's opinion, which I believe to be correct, the revised price that I am asking to buy the car is $7,000, allowing you a $3,000 discount from what I know to be the true value of the car on the low end, namely $10,000, once these present mechanical problems are fixed. I came up with the $3,000 discount figure from one of the members of this group from NYC who said he had the cam seals replaced for $2,000 a few years. So figuring a substantial boost in car parts the last few years, and including the trans return line repair, I came up with the $3,000 figure.
But here's what you should do if you're still interested in purchasing the car. Check out the cost of replacing the cam seals and repairing the transmission return line from a mechanic in your area, as I cannot recommend anyone in my area, in particular the Lexus dealership, to have the car fixed. Get a quote from your mechanic, include the cost of delivering the car to Seattle from Los Angeles, as I will not pay for that, and come up with a price that you think is fair to buy the car.
Let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

I was settled around the $5K mark, so I’ll have to pass for now, but I completely understand and respect your decision to raise the price. It’s definitely a solid car and you’ve been refreshingly honest throughout- I truly appreciate that. Wishing you the best in finding the right buyer!

Thank you for your sage advice about my 1995 Lexus SC400. I have gotten a new, highly recommended mechanic who informs me that there is just one leak and it's in the transmission and we need to get a complete transmission pan as a replacement. I'm in Los Angeles and unfortunately he's having problems finding that part in Los Angeles. If you, or anyone else reading this post, has any suppliers or leads to where I might get the part, I'd greatly appreciate it.
