need to know what best combo. for rear brake pads replacement? only have 30k on car and found that only rear pads need changing only have about 20% left already squeeking i had the front pads/rotors change out under warranty @15K so from what i know is i don't need sanding, just pads,.whats best pad for rear besides oem,? thanks in advance

If you plan to keep your OEM fronts, then put OEM rears in. Putting in higher performance aftermarket pads on the rear only will upset your brake balance. Not noticeable if you drive 5/10th but is a factor for spirited braking 7/10th or above. It's OK to have high performance pads in front and OEM in rear but not the other way around.

"Best pads" is a superlative question. What are you looking for? Low noise? Low dust? Fade resistance? Higher coefficient of friction? Long lasting?

I am partial to ceramic pads, Akebono in particular. Low noise, low dust, good CF rating, good fade resistance, gentle on rotors. ( they don't last as long as OEM, most high performance pads won't due to the softer compound )

I use two different sets for front and rear on my RX. However, keep in mind the RX front pads are larger than the rears.

Nick T got it right, you can use different pads on the front, but do not play with the rear pads, go with OEM. This was the same advice I got from some mechanical friends. I have used Hawk Performance pads and EBC Greenstuffs on my front. EBCs seem to have better stopping power, but a lot of dust for the first month or so. Hawks are not bad, but I would not recommend them given my great experience with the EBCs. However, both seemed to do well on hills compared to the OEM fronts.

One thing though, the Hawks seem to have lasted a lot longer than my EBCs.

Again, it depends on your style of driving and if you like dust all over the place.

 

It's best to change the rear pads the same material as the front pads. But some brands only make front pads for GS4. If that's the case, you could use the OEM pads for the rear and upgrade the front pads only.

I know Endless makes front and rear pads for our cars. I use NA-Y pads on all 4 corners.
