I just got my chrome emblems and antenna nut to replace the pimptastic gold. How do i take off my antenna nut so i can replace it? It looks like it just unscrews, but i don't see anywhere to keep leverage on it to wrench it in place.
I used a paint can opening tool to get mine off. I used the little hooked end to pull on the nut and that eliminated slipping worries. Of course I was replacing my gold nut with a chrome one and wasn't particularly concerned about damaging the nut. However, it came off rather easily and was not damaged.
I had the dealer replace the gold with chrome on my ES, but the antenna nut is still gold. Do they make a black pearl antenna nut (I think it would look cool on my black car)? If the nut wasn't a pain in the rear to remove without damaging, I'd pull it, sand off the gold, and try the DIY black pearl procedure on it.

Pimptastic is right-on!! I'm seriously thinking about removing mine also...gold is just not for me.
Anyhow, Lvangundy is right--there is a tool for it...but in a pinch, I improvised on my Honda with a spring-clip removal plier/wrench. Just try not to slip
I did not have the right tool either, but I took the time to carefully wrap a cloth around the whole area before I did anything. Used a flat head screw driver and a rubber mallet to tap it loose. It spun off easily once the nut budged a little. Protect the area first, work carefully and you might be a lucky as I on this.
