Default 2006 IS250 Brake/starting issue

Hello all, i'm helping a friend who started to troubleshoot his IS 250. I have a background in electrical, but I'm running into some dead ends. I'm not sure his original issue, but he's now changing his brake pedal switch just trying to get his car to start. New switch ohms out fine, but when it's installed, nothing happens. He jumpered some wires (not my idea) and the brake lights came on, and the engine tried. It only had power for a bit, but it gave us two codes when I hooked up my code reader P2118 and P0705. But i don't trust the codes, since i'm not sure what he effected by jumping wires. I'm just curious if anyone has any info on this area of the car. A wire schematic would be great, or at least a general idea of how the switch is supposed to work. It has a normally open circuit and a normally closed circuit in the brake pedal switch.

At this point, i'd just like the car start so we can further troubleshoot, but it appears this switch is stopping everything. Without it working right, the push start engine won't even try to start. Thanks for any help.

Check the neutral safety switch. Alternately shift it into "N" and see.
