not unless you drop a match down the gas fill.

You say that you have to get your oil checked (I am assuming you mean changed) at 83,275.
When was it last changed, 78,275?

If you are on dino oil and your last change was 5000 miles ago, you should think about doing it very soon.
If you are on dino oil and your last change was 3000 miles ago, then you got some wiggle room.

Yes, there is a very good chance if you have a random enemy that is good with explosives

What's the recommended change interval for synthetic oil?

Your car isn't going to blow up, but your engine is probably in pain! It's wearing harder than it normally would with clean oil. Change your oil.

I think you will find most people agree on a 5000 mile interval with synthetic as being acceptable.

Change it and the filter every 3,000 miles, synthetic oil or not. Have also done so with my Honda Accord- 230,000 miles later, still running excellent! My SC400 gets a new oil filter and Mobil 1 oil every 3,000 miles, and the internals love it and show it.

Be careful though, if you let the oil go past 3,000 miles, there are little Hawaiian Menehunes that may jump on your car and eat the internal engine components- if they get wind of your lax oil change. They like to put the Lexus into Lexus heaven early- but no worries, they're so busy eating up the lower quality American cars, they probably won't have time to grt to yours...
