Default front seats

Folks:

My old girl (92 SC400) just passed 375,000 miles and still looking and driving great !!

My front seats are next, though. They need at least a few leather panels replaced ($800 to $1200) and the passenger seat back recline has crapped out ( like many).

Any suggestions from anyone who's been there/done that?

Recaro or other custom seat assemblies?
Salvge parts?
Do just the panels or everything; leather or vinyl?
Any suggestions?

Thanks !!

Geez, I thought I had a lot......

Cap'n,

I have a pair of reclinable Corbeau's that work great, and I even saved a few pounds off each seat. Like you, my seats were shot. The green foam was coming out from every angle....lol

Dude:

Thanks for the reply !!

How much were the seats and how hard were they to install.

Are the recline/front/back motion motorized?

If it weren't for the reclining problem that you have, I would recommend www.autoleathers.com
You can install them yourself if you're halfway handy and the price is about $700 for front and rear in
two tone or cheaper in one color.

Default Thanks!

Clay:

Those look pretty cool !!

Have done the self-install ?

what's entailed. I'm tempted for $400 to try it.

I haven't done an install yet, but I plan to after I pick up the "new" SC300. From everyone I've talked to,
all you need is a little patience and strong hands (hogrings). You basically just put new hog-rings in
every spot where the originals had them. If you do a search on www.boardreader.com for either
autoleathers.com or leatherseats.com (same katskinz seat covers), then you will find plenty of info and pics. I will say that I haven't heard anything bad about them, but tons of good reviews.
I'm thinking of a 2-tone in sandstone plus a darker color to match the dash.

KcCapt,

It was $600 for both seats. I had to modify the stock seat tracks to fit the new seats. They're powered to move forwards and backwards. I recline with the handle provided with the seats. The install was simple after the tracks were matched with the new seats. The hard part was measuring and welding new steel pieces to the stock tracks to make the new seats fit. There are no bracket and sliders made for our cars, but I've heard that LS400 brackets will fit. Also, JIC has seat brackets coming soon to complement its bucket seats.
