Question Cabin Filter

Do 97 ES300 and 2000 ES300 have cabin filter for the A/C system ? If they do, where is the filter located ?

Thanks,

Ching-Ho Cheng

The filter is located by the gas pedal. You have to pull the carpet cover on the right side of the gas pedal and remove the white piece of plastic cover. It's a real pain in the neck.

Thanks for your response. Does it means that both 97 and 2000 have the cabin filter ? Or just the 2000 ES300 has the cabin filter ?

Thanks,

Both of them have the AC filter/cabin filter. If I'm not mistake the ES have the cabin filter since 94-2001 at the same location. On the 2002 ES they put it behind glove box just like all another Lexus, but you have to remove the glove box out in order to get to the filter.

I've been trying to figure this out myself. On my friends '97 and my '98 es300, yes, there is a cover for a slot behind the carpet near the gas pedal against the firewall. It looks like it is 1 by 4 inches. Kinda a tight squeeze but the cover comes off easily, BUT, (there is always a but), there looks like there is a wiring harness assembly in the way so you would have to remove that first bu removing the philips screw holdong that in place. I hope this is all correct info as I can't confirm that a filter actually goes in there since both cars had empty slots. I stuck my fingers in there and I could feel some fins like you wpuld find on an AC unit. Can we just buy Lexus filters and pop them in? or is there a ny holder that that I would also need to purchase. I have not had a chance to go to the parts department yet.

Those AC filter comes with hard plastic case(only on the ES and LX470). You can purchase the filter from Lexus dealership and slide them in there( 2 pieces filter).
