In the NYC area. Car was creaking when I was driving it. I took it to the Toyota dealership and they tried to charge me $1600 (+tax) to replace just the front right strut (~$900), and then the ball joints will be around ~$700. There is a diagnostic fee of $250+tax which is waived if you fix the problems at the dealership. Does this sound like a good price? Also, I thought that the struts should be replaced in pairs, so why is the dealership only recommending to replace one strut?
