Timing belt cam issue. Need help
Hello all. I'm doing timing belt in my 2002 sc430. 4.3 v8. All was going good on teardown. I advanced timing to the 50° clockwise of TDC (I assume this is ATDC)
I then removed crank pulley. My problem is that when I manually turned both cams counterclockwise back to timing marks, the driver's side cam sprung backwards (counter clockwise ) beyond timing mark.
I wound up turning it a full 360° back to the timing mark TDC. my crank is stI'll 50° ATDC. Could I have damaged anything, or should I continue on and rotate crank clockwise back around to TDC (to match cam positions) and install new belt? Then rotate engine by hand as instructions say.
I have read soooo many posts on here that I'm going cross eyed !!!!!
Thanks for any information guys & gals !!
