#8 part #in there was 28100-50062 I think this the # for a new starter is about $600.00 and if you rem.from lex.it will cost around $375 or $400.00 bucks better pray you got warranty when this happend.part for remanufa.is #28100-50110-84

#9 this whats wrong with the starter it would'nt release this part and it just kept spinning.

This is MUCH more information than I could have imagined. I would still do it if it happened. I hate to pay labor charges...besides, I have a garage with a full complement of tools. Apparently the starter still works under that manifold and heat. I never imagined that the starter would be in there.

I am going to do my timing belt too when it needs to be done. That is a BIG job too, but I am up for it.

Great pics on the process of removing the GS4 starter. Is there any chance of you writing a tutorial on doing it? (What you removed, size of sockets, things to watch out for during each step, etc.). That would make this from a good thread to a great one.

Wow what a procedure. Not an easy task but working on it. Just like a Porsche Cayenne. Buried under the intake manifold.
