Default Dealer overfilled my trans.. What to do?

That’s right! I had the transmission flushed/filled back in July of 2002. Last week I noticed vibration and hum noise when the RPM is around 1k, no mater what the speed is. I checked the transmission fluid to see if it was low and to my surprise it was overfilled. I checked it hot and cold and both indicate that it was overfilled, somewhere between 1-2/8”.

Well time to raise hell.

Any advice????

Not really sure about LS's, but many dipsticks are inaccurate. my ES was fairly accurate (i guess...no other way to really prove), but subarus, for example, have terrible dipsticks....everything ALWAYS says overfilled. and you can park the car backwards and get a "LOW OIL" reading.

anyway, i'm sorry to doubt your tranny overfill. Actually, i'm not doubting you, i'm just not sure if thats what is causing the hum. Check your motor mounts/tranny mounts recently?
if your fluid level is too high, you're just going to have to live w/ it or suck it out from the top by hose. theres no way you can "slightly" undo the drain plug and drip some out. or go back to the dealer to have them do another fill.

I will see what they have to say about the fluid level. If it is OK then I’ll look into the mounts. I have 120k miles on her and mounts could be the problem.

Thank you for your input

So, you are supposing its been overfilled for a year (you state July '02)?

Good luck proving to the dealership that they overfilled it.
