Default Oil Overfill

Just had our first oil change on our RX330 at 3,000 miles and noticed that the oil level on the dipstick was about a quart high. The service paperwork indicates that 6 quarts of oil were used. I talked with the service manager and he told me that 6 quarts are specified on the paperwork of all of this series of Lexus but that the technicans only put in what the engine requires.

Is it the practice of all Lexus dealers to show 6 quarts of oil on the paperwork of RX oil changes?

when did you check the dipstick to get the "quart high" reading?

Park on a level surface, run the motor for about 5-10 minutes (warm engine). Turn it off and wait about 10 to 15 minutes. Check it again (pull the dipstick out, wipe it off, reinsert it again completely. Pull it out again and try not to hit the reading area on the side of the column the stick fits into.)

My new "mechanic" likes to disregard what i say about how many quarts of oil for my non-turbo Impreza, and always like to give it more than 1 extra quart of oil than necessary because he goes by the "wrx standards." WRX's take 1 more quart than my car, yes....but NOT my car. oh well, car runs same.

If the 6 quarts bothers you (car *should* run fine), keep pulling the dipstick out and wiping it for an hour . or suck it out w/ a suction hose (don't try to undo the drain plug "just a little" cuz that ain't happening....GUSH!!).
