I just got the replacement non-remote master key for my 2000 ES300. Does anyone know how to program the replacement key. I can use this key to open doors but no starting the car.
If you can only open the doors but not start the car, then it looks like you'll have to take a trip to the dealership and ask for the key to be re-programmed to the ignition.
You mentioned that your key is not a remote. It IS possible to program it yourself, but only with a master key that has a remote. I am not aware of a way to do it w/out a remote, such as valet or wallet-type keys. However, I agree with your notion that you should be able to program it yourself, with or without a remote
Yes, I do have a master key with remote. I found some key programming instruction in the maintenance forum but that didn't work. It looked like that the instruction was for RX300 not ES300. Therefore, do you know the programming instruction ?
To sum it up, I have a master key with remote which was come with the car. I just purchased a non-remote master key from Swell Lexus. This is the one Ithat I want to program.
Wow, good find! Glad to hear it worked on your non-remote master key, and I'm sure that saved the trouble and hassle of going to the dealership to get it programmed.
Dealer asked for about $120 to make a new non-remote master key + programming. I only paid about $42 for the new replacement key from Swell Lexus.com and free of charge programming by myself.
