Default alignment - had it done, but

My steering wheel is still angled off!

In order to drive perfectly straight I have to tilt the steering wheel to the right very slightly. It's visually noticeable.

I took it to an alignment place to have a regular 4 wheel alignment and mentioned the problem. They adjusted the toe and possibly the camber, but that's all they did as far I could tell. As far as the numbers, the front / rear left side wheels were slightly out of adjustment.

What is the adjustment that fixes the steering wheel angled the wrong way?

i thought it was just removing the steering wheel, straightening the front wheels, and putting the steering wheel back on straight. time to take it back to the alignment shop??

Thanks Mezoom! -

Hmm after doing some research - (http://www.roadandtravel.com/womensw...alignment.html)

It looks like I got only the toe-in adjustment, not the caster, and possibly not the camber either.

Hmm..I paid only $45, so I'm wondering if I should even bother going back there, or just take it somewhere else.

Usually toe (and maybe camber) is all they adjust during simple alignments i think. Unless your car is *reaaally* pulling to one side or you've got really weird tire wear.....it's just more $$$.

maybe try this place?? never been, but he's got some good reviews and check out the location.

Back in January I took my RX in for service after my alignment at an indpendent service found that the camber bolts on the right side were abnormal. Lexus replaced the bolts (even out of warranty) at no cost, and aligned the vehicle properly. Have them look at your shocks/struts. When cars are aligned they sit on a rack not on a road, and any defect in the shocks/struts could alter the steering wheel position. Unlikely though, but perhaps.

Steering wheel off-center isn't much of a problem at all. It can easily be adjusted, and, no, not by removing the steering wheel and rotate it a notch (you won't get fine adjustment this way). It's more difficult to adjust all wheels to specs and have the car go straight with hands off the wheel on leveled road.
